"Springtime, the only pretty ringtime, when birds will sing 'ring-ding-ading-ding'...."
I've actually sung the song he's referencing here and ol' Gene totally pooches the melody.

Mr. Salt: For five days now, the entire flipping factory's been on the job. They haven't shelled a peanut in there since Monday. They've been shelling flavored chocolate bars from dawn till dusk.
Veruca: Make them work nights!

Ah, mominator. Successfully invoking the single most superfluous song ever written for a movie musical. Anyone else always used to fast forward through Cheer Up Charlie on their VHS copy? I sure as hell did. Wore the tape out.
DVD is good.

BB Why all this hostility towards this poor woman? here she is raising her son on her own while taking care of not only her parents but her husbands as well! All she wants is for her son to dream of a better life.
Man you must scare babies too.

No no no. Make no mistake. No hostility toward the poor woman. I just wanted to see Gene Wilder eat the teacup sooner.

"...truly wish...to...be."
*CRUNCH*
You know Gene Wilder said it was the most awful tasting thing he ever had to put in his mouth. It was wax! Blech.

Thank you CJR. I was feelin' like a bastard there fer a sec.
Truth be told, a friend of mine, amazing singer and actress, sang Cheer Up Charlie at a recital and it knocked my socks off. I was shocked that the song COULD be good. But a slow ballad in the beginning of a movie that features GENE FRICKIN WILDER? Come on. That BEGS to be FF'd through.

Sung to the Tune of THE CHRISTMAS WALTZ
It's that time of year
When the posters go nuts
Every person here
Seems to say,
'F*CKING LOOK AT ME YOU F*CKING A$$HOLES I NEED SOME F*CKING ATTENTION'
Yes, my New Years Dream came true.
And this song of mine
Sung in wonky time
Wishes you, my dear,
Would melt down too!

Don't ya love it when the seriously unhinged (and I'd put a percentage estimate somewhere around 96.5% of this board) decide to let their true colors shine through.
I see your true colors
Shining through.
I see your true colors.
That's why I fear you.
So don't be afraid.
To ask for help.
True colors.
True colors.
Are making me

Posted: 2/11/05 at 10:20amA little melt down every now and then keeps things interesting. The fun part is watching it build up. With some people you can just see it coming over a period of days. Of course, with some others, you cans ee it from day and wonder how they hold it together as long as they do.

Posted: 2/11/05 at 1:10pmAs interesting as the mass exodus was, the mass introdus that has recently occurred is even more intriguing. Especially when you were out of town and suddenly all these people are back and you missed all the threads that may have some sort of explanation. It's very surreal.
