Oh--my version of it may very well be boring, but Prince's version is electrifying!
*insert foot in mouth here*
I am embaressed to admit that I am not familiar with the original...
I'll just stop now.

I said I still loved you! Hah.

lol--That's all that matters!
ok, it's obvious people need to LEARN about African-American History and Culture.
Kitz, love ya, but Aida was originally written by a WHITE Italian, Giuseppe Verdi...and has NOTHING to do with African-Americans...and just cause Elton John/Disney had African-American actors in their production does still not make it have anything to do with African-American culture....
westernsky, THANK YOU for being the ONLY one to actually have a song dealing with the African-American experience......and not just sung by an African-American.......very nicely done
Believe me, I know. It's a question of finding songs that fit my voice that actually have tracks.
Because I'd rather do decent on a song that doesn't totally fit the theme than suck on a song that does.
Plus Tiff is such a bitch I figured she'd tell me if I was commiting an unforgivable sin.
I can understand that.....I was just hoping......thanks for not getting offended, as I didn't mean it that way
Oh suuuuure, blame it on the judge.
At least you were constructive. Some people on these boards just turn in to uber bitches for no reason.
You are one of the few people who has never pissed me off
THAT'S saying something. Be flattered, Elphaba!
thanks...I try......I just figure you get more with honey that rancid maggots.......or however that goes......
Alright, I am finally home. Here is my reviews:
1) Kitz--Good job! I still wish you would have done "Last Dance" because I am hard-headed like that.
2.) Jrb--I wish you would have done Prince's key, because that would have kicked ass. But, I loved your intro and you have an amazing voice, so yet again . . . **standing ovation** GREAT JOB!
3.)Ebby--One of your best! Your recording equipment muffles a lot, but other than that you did a great job!
4.)Western--What is up with that karaoke music? haha!!! God, this was sexy. **Feels vapors**. You know I love your voice and you did not dissapoint. GREAT JOB!
5.)Allie--D-A-M-N!!!!! This wins the award for the best submission this week. Girl, you brought it and kicked serious ass. I am so glad that I found that song and you decided to do it, because it was perfect. AMAZING JOB!!!
6.)Spidey--Biased!!!!
Wow...I think it is safe to say that most of th remaining contestants are better than a few of the people that managed to make it into the top 24 this week on the *ahem* other Idol.

I find myself watching the rip-off Idol and thinking the very same thing!
I agree...everyone in this Idol competition make some in the other look like the annoying person in the karaoke bar that you want just throw something at so they stop!

This was a pretty strong performance. The song choice wasn't my favorite and I think it started out just a bit shaky, but you really brought it together towards the end and finished very strong. I love how versatile your voice is and how you make everysong your own. I know you had some issues with being able to record this week so I won't hold it against you that I think that you probably sing that song a bit better at the beginning than you did this week, but all in all another above average performance.

I am running out of things to say. I love that you have such a good time every week. The opening ode to "Hustle and Flow" was hilarious as was the "dance break" during your main song. The really great thing about you is that you know your strengths and you capitalize on them. The song even showed off a bit of your falsetto despite not being the most challenging song in the world. I think you are a very strong bet to make it to the finals. My only bit of criticism is that while this song was good, it didn't really show your voice off that well. As we are getting closer to the end, I think you should focus on finding something that really shows you off. You are easily one of the best in the competition, and fair or not as a result of that - we want more.

I have to admit that this isn't one of my favorite songs in the world. I just have never really loved it and I think it's overdone. All that being said, you consistantly wow me. Your voice is so clean and you control it so well. It's very difficult to find your break which is a quality I love. There were some notes on some of the riffs that went just a bit off, but I can forgive that because your voice is so pleasant. I think you are guaranteed a spot in the finals and as of right now.

I think I just have to come to terms with the fact that I am not a big fan of your style. I may be in the minority here, because you do seem to have a lot of fans. It's apparent that you have a nice voice. There are moments here and there that I hear a tone that I really like. I think it all boils down to not really liking your style. I don't mean that disrespectfully at all. It's just a preference. I think the issue for me is that it seems like you are trying to do too much with the riffs. The parts where it goes off for me is typically after a riff and you sometimes don't find the note quickly enough. Either way, you clearly have a lot of fans and I can see you going very far in the competition. I'd like to hear just your really nice voice without all of the movement. I've said this in prior weeks though and I think it's stylistic difference. I do give you credit for staying true to you, I just wish that you'd hold back a little bit and avoid oversinging and just showing us the nice tone of your voice.

I really liked the verses a lot. When you get to the chorus it got a little bit shaky. I still feel like you are holding back a bit. It's almost as if you are afraid of too much volume or something. The chorus of this song is a perfect example. You are staying in your head voice and the sound seems stuck in the back of your throat during the bigger parts of the song. I really wanted to hear you belt out those chorus notes. I am definitely a fan of your voice and the amount of control you have is evident on some of the runs in that song, but I still would love to hear you break out and really belt something out.
Spidey: 8.5
When I heard you were doing this song I was a little concerned. I thought it might be a bit optimistic of a song because typically when people try Stevie, they screw it up. I gotta say my concerns weren't valid. There were a couple of times you were a little outta tune, but all in all you picked a challenging song and did a good job. You have such a unique tone to your voice that is really growing on me.
By the way folks, it's looking like we won't get to the results until Saturday since I'll be on set all day tomorrow, so now's the best time to make like the good little advertising pawns that you are and get all your friends to start listening to Idol and send in their votes!
