The NYT’s David Brooks: “Obama’s problem is he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who can go into an Applebee’s salad bar and people think he fits in naturally there.”
Of course, as any non-elitist New Yorker knows, Applebee's doesn't HAVE a salad bar. RUBY TUESDAY'S has the Salad Bar.
The non-existent Applebee’s salad bar

lol @ As Hoffmania noted, “If you’re going to use this as a vehicle to test someone’s folksiness, at least know what the hell you’re talking about.”

Is fitting in at Applebee's really the best criterion we can come up with for being president nowadays? Is it really so terrible if someone doesn't want to eat a greasy cheesesteak from a racist-owned tourist trap in Philadelphia? Should we add a constitutional amendment banning people who eat swiss cheese on said sandwiches from the oval office? Does the Ruby Tuesday salad bar have arugula?
As Jon Stewart said, maybe, just maybe, it's not so bad to have president who aspires to be a bit BETTER than average.

Posted: 6/3/08 at 3:11pmWell as the article pointed out, George Bush was named "Candidate I'd most like to have a beer with" despite the fact that having a beer with reformed alcoholic GW would most likely lead to a drunken attack on North Korea.

Posted: 6/3/08 at 3:43pmI personally don't want my President eating in Applebee's, McDonalds or any food chain. I don't want to hang with my President over a beer. I would hope that a converstion with my President would be a boring no nonsense discussion on what we are doing to correct what is wrong with this country, how we can enhance what is good and working, and how we can get ourselves out of a war that a dry drunk got us into.

Posted: 6/3/08 at 3:58pmI just can't see Hillary ordering another round of breadsticks at Olive Garden. It worries me.

Or Wyatt's. Do they still have Wyatt's?
I'll bet Mitt Romney could put away cheddar bay biscuits like a madman.

Our Wyatt's died.
I think Piccadilly is still around, though, at Almeda Mall in Houston.
The decor of The Monster always makes me think of Luby's.

I try not to think of The Monster too much.
How many times can you hear "Losing My Mind" without actually doing it?
