Also true. Yes, I always got a good laugh out of watching her try to run on film - knock-kneed and pidgeon toe'd, if you ask me. But her voice was perfection (possibly because of the risks she took as a performer, more than anyone around today) The first three album releases are magnificent. And as far as comic performance goes - I LOVE her in What's Up Doc?.
I love early Barbra Streisand, and still do but she kind of lost me about the time she started doing duets with Don Johnson.
Interestingly enough, I liked that first (at least I think it was the first) duet with Don Johnson - 'Til you Loved Me. But most of the other stuff from that part of her career did certainly tend to lean in a downhill direction, if you ask me!

I love early Barbra. I love What's Up Doc...(we miss you Madeline)
Oh God yes - Madeline was a genius. "What have you done with Howard's Rocks???!!!"
Eunice? That's a person named Eunice?
"Flames, Flames shooting out of the side of my head!"
Madeline once made a statement that she was dissapointed that she and Barbra didn't become more than professionally friendly during the making of WHAT'S UP, DOC? "I liked her and I thought we had a lot in common. But she wasn't interested in hanging out with me at all."
To be fair to Barbra, she was merrily boinking the young and oh-so-tender Ryan O'Neal during the filming.
To be fair to Maddy....You were too good, sweetheart!
Quite frankly, if I were given the choice of hanging out with Madeline or boinking the (then) amazingly handsome and dangerous Ryan O'Neal, I'd do what Barbra did - and without having to worry about damaging my vocal cords.
He WAS cute, wasn't he? That scene with him in the boxers and black socks is just plain Hot. And I don't usually go for blondes.
He was in great shape and a hairy blonde guy, which I love.
And you just know he could go for hours and be rough and tough.
Yeah, he was a furry juicy thang, wasn't he?
Oh, how the mighty have grown puffier...
Well, hopefully, we all get older.
older, yes, and some get more 'bear' able.
But last I saw him, Ryan really puffed out.
But he's still a talented man - remember that short lived series two years ago, Miss Match or something like that - with Alicia Silverstone (we were liking it at the beginning, but then they brought in Melissa Errico and for some reason the series plumeted!LOL.) Anywhoo - I think, if I recall correctly, that Ryan played her father, and he was quite funny.
He always played comedy well.

He seems like an outdoorsy type. Soaking up that vitamin D.
The album is out tomorrow? I thought someone said December.Funny how some people here trash Barbra but think nothing of a 47 year old Madonna trying to keep up with the 20 year olds (like a parent who gets up on the dance floor of their childs school dance to show she still a "groover").
AMEN!

Briefly reviewed in Monday's NY Times.
First of all, AMEN alterego!
Secondly, I bought the cd today and it is DIVINE. Definitely one of her best in many years - every single song is beautiful, and her vocals simply shine. Standouts include "Come Tomorrow", "Without Your Love" and "All The Children". There is also a wonderful cover of Andy Gibb's "(Our Love)Don't Throw It All Away".
All in all, I am very happy with this album. It is all I expected and more!! I hope this is a huge hit because it definitely has the potential!
