Becoming a 'Child Wrangler'

How do you become a child wrangler? I have experience with musicals and have been a dancer all my life. I have done student teaching at my dance studio so have had experience helping younger students back stage at concerts as well as making sure they all get on stage in time, costume changes, drink water, go to the bathroom etc. before reuniting them with their parents at the end of the show. I have always been interested in being a 'child wrangler' on Broadway but have no idea how? Could anyone help me and give me advice? Thank you :))

They are indeed, Tag. They signed a collective bargaining agreement back in the summer of 2012, under Local 764, that was set for four years.

If I recall correctly, the child wranglers on Billy Elliott had reached an agreement with producers under Local 764, but at the time it was for that show only and did not provide any contributions to a pension plan. When that show closed, and with several child-heavy shows announced (Annie, Matilda), they realized a long term solution was needed, and that they couldn't just keep negotiating with the producers show by show.

These jobs are often advertised on websites such as Playbill or BroadwayWorld. Look out for future vacancies. Knowing someone doesn't hurt, either.

When The Railway Children (the London-based play) opened in Toronto - the child wrangler was the daughter of the production company owner.

Yes, it's a full-time job, if you're lucky enough to land a Broadway show.
