For the longest time I have wanted to get my belly button pierced. I am only 16 and technically can't get it pierced until I am 18, unless my mom signs off on me, but we all know she would never do that. People kept telling me to just wait till I am 18 and if I still want it then, then I should go for it. That seems so logical, and I thought about that for a LONG time...but(there's always a but, isn't there) I have wanted one since I was about 11 and I don't think I can wait that long...so...
I ordered a self piercing kit off of ebay. It is the right size needle, 14 Gauge, and come factory sealed and sterilized. It also comes with the cork, gloves, alcohol pads, and a stainless steel sterilized belly button ring. My friend works at Claire's and pierces EARS all the time, she said piercing a belly button is rather simple, but she was gonna do some research for me before she does it. My question is: Do you think it is safe. She knows what she is doing, and everything comes sterilized. My mom maybe pissed, but she never sees me with my shirt off. And by the time we go to the beach in August, it SHOULD be healed enough that I can take it out while I am at the beach.
Does anyone have any tips for me? Please let me know! I want to do this the safest way possible!:)
Thanks Guys!
OMG! Don't do it yourself, there are tons of places out there that won't make an adult sign off on it, just find a professional!

no, i'm not gonna do it MYself. My friend who does piercings is gonna do it!:)
Piercing belly buttons is different than piercing ears, though. You have to get it through at the right angle and everything. But if you trust your friend to do it, then go for it.
Still, I wouldn't do that. I got mine pierced when I was 20 in Israel, it didn't hurt too bad to get it done (I wasn't sober either), but I went horseback riding the next day which killed.
And then last year in October (I was almost 25), I was putting a box on the top shelf in my closet and had one of the dangling piercings in, and it got caught on the box and when I lifted up the box, the ring ripped right through my skin. I cried. A lot. And I still have a scar from it which will never go away.

First of all, oh my god OUCH.
Second of all, DO NOT DIY PIERCE YOUR BELLY BUTTON!!!!!! There are plenty of places that won't require a parents signature... have it done by a professional. Piercing your belly button is FAR different than piercing your ears.

I'm sorry, but I would not trust any place that would pierce minors without consent. That's just shady. I would not recommend self-piercing by someone who's just done ears.
This reminds me of the scene in Thirteen when Rachel Evan Wood let's Nikki pierce her belly button. *Shudder*
I loved it. It was sick. "Hit me!!!" LOL

EvelynNesbit1906: me too! As am male myself, I am very excited to get it done. It's not something every male does, so I like the idea of it. It is also UBER hot!
I have a total belly button fetish. If I were to see a guy stretch and expose a pierced navel, I'd want to run over and lick it.

haha...well, maybe soon your dream will come true! oh dammit, I'm gay, I keep forgetting! Always seems to get in the way...oh well!
My ex had his bellybutton pierced. It's kind of hot SOMETIMES, but it's really just REALLY girly. But if you're hot and ripped like he was, go for it.
I don't like a ripped stomach. I'd rather see a Wall Street yuppy (Jason Priestley build) open his shirt to expose a pierced navel. Now THAT'S hot.
A guy in the ensemble of the Rent tour had his belly button pierced. I hadn't seen it on another guy before, so it was kinda hot. But yeah, I understand what munkustrap said about how it can be girly.

I pierce navels for people occasionally. It's not hard.
I really recommend that you wait for you mother's permission, though. If you do this behind her back, you'll erode any trust you have established. I don't think a navel ring is worth it.

bernadette, as has been stated several times ears are very different then the navel. Clairs uses a gun to pierce ears, not a needle. It's best to have a professional do it. Is it really worth the potential problems?

Just went through an old Show People Magazine with a very sexy pic of Raul Esparza and saw that he has his pierced. Looks very nice.

Ouch! Belly button peircings are so 90's anyway =P I would definetely reccomend waiting! It's only two years more, and if you still want it, then go for it!
Personally I don't think it's a good look for guys AT ALL, nut whatever floats your boat!
Bernadette i adore you but as i've told you before it will hurt but i'll be excited to see what it will look like. i'll be there to hold your hand if you need me too! now are you gonna wait until spring production is over?
