The Days of Future Past movie looks promising.

I read they are trying to streamline all the skewed character timelines into a coherent narrative. So all that crap at the end of X3 can be "undone".

that's gonna take quite a shoehorn.

i...i'm just not a big hugh jackman fan. the only things i liked about that move were the parts that were not him: liev, danny huston, ryan reynolds.

Many fans also lost their sh*t when Heath was announced as the Joker and, well, we know how that turned out.... (one of the most brilliant film performances of at least the last two or three decades)

Not that I'm implying Ben is on the same level as Mr. Ledger. No, not even close.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

If anyone can give me a coherent explanation why the consumer needs another Batman movie (or another Superman movie, for that matter), I'll give ya a dollar.

Why do we need anything we indulge in? You personally may not have any interest in another Superman or Batman movie, but that doesn't mean that from a consumer perspective it doesn't make perfect sense to make more.

The last two Batman films made over a billion dollars each world wide. Each.

All the Batman films total have made over $3.7 billion dollars world wide.

Man of Steel made $649 million world wide.

No one "needs" another Batman movie. We didn't "need" the previous 7, but I don't go to the movies often and I went and saw all 7 of them. There are millions of nerds out there who will do the same.

Warner Bros will keep making them until those nerds stop going.

I think the only thing more over-the-top than the groans about Affleck's casting is the reaction to the over-the-top groans.

They win the Great American Freak-out this week, by a nose.

And most people aren't even getting that it's a Superman movie, meaning Affleck's character isn't the leading role.

True, besty. But he signed a multi picture deal so he'll at least be in the Superman picture, the inevitable Justice League film and one more film - probably a stand alone.

I just don't get all the whining. I think Affleck will be fine. Especially in an ensemble driven DC universe.

When Mark Ruffalo was cast as The Hulk for The Avengers, people were skeptical then, as well. And his Hulk did a bang up job!

Affleck shines when he's not the main role. Maybe it's a psychological pressure thing, but I think he's the most interesting, the most fearless in his choices, when he's playing a secondary role.

It's like he shuts down and becomes a wooden Ken doll when he's the lead. The exception is when he directs himself. Otherwise, he's far better when the weight of a film isn't carried on his shoulders.

But we still have the wooden Henry Cavill for that burden. Ugh. He'll make Affleck look like Daniel Day-Lewis by comparison.

No, I'm not over-the-top excited or over-the-top skeptical about this movie. Ambivalence reigns supreme!

I'm kind of neutral on this whole issue. I'm just ticked that there haven't been any non-Superman or Batman DC superhero movies other than a 70s-and-mostly-forgotten Supergirl movie and a Green Lantern movie that, honestly, the only thing that sucked was Ryan Reynolds.

GetBackUp - The end game of Man of Steel and the sequel with Affleck as Batman is to set up a slow build to a Justice League film much like was done with The Avengers.

There are rumors that Aquaman and/or Martian Manhunter is soon to be cast. Sinestro has been cast. Lex Luthor has been cast.

You can bet we'll see Flash info as well.

I get the frustration too as a DC over Marvel guy - but Affleck's deal was rumored to be an 13 appearance deal as Batman. That hints at a lot of DC Universe.
