I've always liked Ben Stein and find him to be articulate and intelligent. Not quite sure what to make of this though.
I don't hate Obama but I'm not sure I like him either.

He worked for Nixon. 'Nuff said.
(though he did donate to Al Franken's campaign, believe it or not)

So, we will have a government bureaucrat denying us coverage instead of a high paid corporate exec whose yearly bonus is based on how much money he saves the company deciding.... Hmmmm.
Ben, Ben, Ben, stick to your whack a mole commercials.

There is not a shred of truth in Stein's diatribe. While there is plenty to disagree about with respect to Obama, or any other political leader, the FACT is that he is not an extreme leftist. Not even close. Don't believe me? Ask someone in the far left, and they'll tell you that they're disappointed that Obama is governing too close to the center.
To refute a few of Stein's points - the stimulus included too in much tax breaks and not enough spending. That was a concession to the GOP and conservaDems, and despite those concessions, not one Republican voted for the stimulus (though many seem to be taking credit for its projects back home). When it came around to appointing a justice to the SCOTUS, he chose a MODERATE judge. Despite what the folks on Fox say, Sotomayor is not a liberal, not even close. She's somewhere in the middle, which I think is a good thing.
Regarding healthcare, the proposals in the Senate and House are very MODERATE. The public option is weak in both bills, and both include mandated coverage, which benefits the insurers.

You are correct. I am someone who would be considered "far left" and there's nothing far left about Obama. But once the Right starts repeating their little memes it doesn't matter what the truth is.

Posted: 11/20/09 at 2:14pmBen Stein and Al Franken are good friends. Al use to joke about them being called "Franken-Stein". Always good for a laugh.Al use to say both he and Ben had the most annoying voices for radio. Not crazy about Ben but find him more tolerable than most. He never really came off as being mean or unfair like so many others.
