"This was the year TV dared to be odd."

I was the first one to love Mad Men and the first to say it had jumped the shark. Now I hate it.
Any list that overlooks Dexter has no credibility with me.

Any list that leaves off Glee (no, the honorable mention doesn't count) is a win in my book!
Though I disagree with about half the list, I heartily agree with her comments on Friday Night Lights. I'm still amazed this wonderful show has never received the recognition it deserves, both in buzz and awards.
I love Modern Family.
..and I would have put Vampire Diaries on the list. Because I love that show...you heard me.

I'm a little disappointed Jersey Shore didn't make the list.

I'm not at all surprised there's no Chuck, but it's definitely in my top 10. It really went up a few levels by the end of this past season, from floof to really well-done floof with some actual dramatic stakes.
Of this year's shows, though, I do love Modern Family and Community.
I don't respect any list that leaves Lost off.
and no one respects you, so it evens out.
Phyllis, don't know if you noticed but GlEe got an honorable mention at the end.
I can't believe that list left out all the really great Showtime shows this year: UNITED STATES OF TARA, WEEDS, NURSE JACKIE, and DEXTER of course. Not even one Showtime show? I thought some of the best TV (most certainly the best TV acting) could be found there.
I think TRUE BLOOD definitely deserved a spot there too.
My list would look something more like: MODERN FAMILY, DEXTER, 30 ROCK, IN TREATMENT, US OF TARA, WEEDS, NURSE JACKIE, TRUE BLOOD, LOST, and THE OFFICE.

I did. That's why I said the honorable mention doesn't count!
I love Parks and Rec. the show has found itself more this season....very funny. And The Office will always continue to be my favorite, even if this is the worst season yet.
No CASTLE? Not even in the honorable mentions? I call B.S.
Do people still watch Lost? I thought everyone had given up on it by now and planned to watch the last episode only so they can talk about it the next day. Best of the decade list, sure, but not of 2009.
I can't say I would go to her for TV opinions. I watch very few of those shows, and only one would be on my top 10 of the year list.
Honestly, I just feel sorry for you if you're missing out on Lost. I don't need to defend it. I'm just sorry you're missing out.
Yeah, I gave up on Lost in season 2. I never felt like I was missing out on anything other than aimless story lines and unresolved plots.
I gave up on Lost during season 3, but am fully open to the possibility of marathoning my way through the whole lot on DVD once it's OVER and DONE with. I'm much more forgiving of shaky patches when they only take a few hours, as opposed to a couple of months.
That said, I REALLY don't need to be patronised by some dick on the other end of the internet feeling sorry for me not watching it! I mean, it's not like I mince around declaring my pity and condescension for anyone who doesn't watch Imagination Movers, or never saw Maid Marian and her Merry Men as a child!
Not a Mad Men fan--it looks like it takes place in purgatory.
That site's article about Brittany Murphy is pretty touching, especially the last line.
I lost interest about halfway through Season 2 too.
Phyllis, my bad, I didn't read the parentheses. I still count the honorable mention, so the list doesn't work for me :-P
Ehhh... Parks and Recreation, and Community...???
What should have been on the list:
1. Dexter - series finale. One of the most talked about shows ever. No small feat considering it is on a cable channel most people don't get.
2. The Office - Jim and Pam's wedding. C'mon, Kevin put his feet in the ice machine. How can you overlook that? In fact, I kinda wish I had. That episode was so good, I can almost imagine what those feet smelled like.
3. Breaking Bad - Q caused a major plane crash which caused a one-eyed pink stuffed animal to land in our hero's pool. Waited the whole season to find out what was behind that! And what about those crack parents and the little kid?? This show flirts with brilliance.
4. Love him or hate him....there is no denying that Adam Lambert with his terrific Mad World, and terrifically rude version of Ring of Fire, gave American Idol another 15 minutes of fame.
5. Welcome back Project Runway and Tim Gunn!!!
Agree with Mad Men and Damages. Both made me want more.
