re: Bestestest TV Theme Song Ever

but then, there was ANOTHER version for later seasons...

I used to be sad
I used to be shy
Funniest thing, the saddest part
Is I never knew why.

Kickin' myself for nothin'
Was my favorite sport.
I had to take off
Start enjoyin'
'Cause life's too short.

There's a new girl in town
And I'm feelin good.
Got a smile, got a song
For the neighborhood.

Things are great when you stand
On your own two feet,
And this girl's here to say
With some luck and love,
Life's gonna be
So sweeeeeeeeeet!

Maybe the world is blind,
Or just a little unkind.
Don't know.

Seems you can't be sure
Of anything anymore.
Although,

You maybe lonely and then,
One day you're smiling again.
Every time I turn around,
I see the girl that turns my world around.
Standing there...

Everytime I turn around,
Her spirit's lifting me right off the ground.
What's gonna be ?
Guess we'll just wait and see.

You can count on me.
No matter what you do.
You can count on me.
No matter where you go.

I'm standing by your side.
I'll be right behind.
No one loves you more than I do,
Put your hand in mine.

I can see a part of me in you.
A little something special that comes shining through.
I hear it in your laughter,
And I feel it when you cry,
I will be right there for you,
Until the day I die.

You can count on me.
No matter what you do.
You can count on me.
No matter where you go.
You can count on me.

Oh yeah, I watched that once, realized the dads were straight and said "what's the point?"

that was a really stupid premis for a show. Woman dies and leave custody of teenage daughter to two men, either of whom could have been the father but she didn't know for sure. Two dads and daughter are now forced to live together as a family.

Wouldn't a paternity test have killed this show off in the pilot episode?

Craig,

You are quite the TV Theme savant! Have you considered the possibilities for monetary gain with this vast wealth of knowledge. ("I'll take TV Theme Songs for 100, Alex" or "I can name that tune in 2 notes!")

Thanks for stretching my brain as I sit amidst retention files and manila folders!
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

and then there's MAUDE...
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end
People let me tell you 'bout my best friend
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up my down, my pride and joy.

Yes, I know that one...The Courtship of Eddie's Father

What about shows that used old pop standards

Which shows used these songs as their themes?

The other is only a bit obscure and the song was sung by the shows star completely off key. I don't know who ever lied to that woman and told her she could sing.

"Nice Work if You Can Get It" was Cybil

And, with a nod to the classical:
William Tell Overature: The Lone Ranger

"Georgia" (especially the last season with Ray Charles singing)
Designing Women

Who could forget this song from my youth:

Looove....exciting and new!
Come aboard, we're expecting you
And love, life's sweetest reward
Let it flow, it flows back to you

The Love Boat
Soon will be making another run
The Love Boat
Promises something for everyone
Set a course for adventure
Your mind on a new romance

And Love, won't hurt anymore
It's an open smile, from a friendly shore
It's love
Welcome aboard it's love

My faves are the instrumental ones,
from both old shows (Get Smart, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy)
and new ones (Will & Grace, Sex and the City).
I also like this one..

Don't know about the future
That's anybody's guess
It ain't no good reason for gettin' all depressed
Fire up your pad and pencil
I give you a piece of my mind
In my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine

Stop all your fussin'
Slap on a smile
Come out and walk in the sun for awhile
Don't fight your feelin's
You know you wanna have a good time
And in my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine

Makin' your way in the world today takes everything you've got
Takin' a break from all your worries sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name

You wanna go where people know people are all the same
You wanna go where everybody knows your name
I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

Too easy...Cheers. I live in Boston so I know all about Cheers, unfortunately. I love when I'm outside havinga cig braek and tourists ask me where Cheers is...I tell them it was cancelled yaers ago.

IT doesn't exist people!

Extra points to anyone who can name the singer of the Blossom theme. I think he had sung the theme song to an earlier show but I can't remember which one.
