I want to re-post Calvin's earlier thoughts, just to make sure they sink in:

How is that Marxist? In college I was a history major and had to read Capital: A Critique of Political Economy, it was long and boring but I got through it, I did a whole semester on Marx and I had to write a pretty lengthy paper on him. Anyway, it is common for people to assume that Marx was all about taxing the rich.But he was also about commodities fetishism and surplus value...etc. Marxism economics is much more complicated then taxing the wealthy and the reason it has not worked before was because people did not follow it, they followed variations of it. In fact it was alot more extreme then taxing the wealthy.

I love when people throw around Marxist when they truly don't understand every aspect. If you want to say socialism or communist just say them.

I believe the wealthy haven't been pulling their weight in this country. As a middle class working women I have to rent because I can't afford to own right now because mortgage rates are insane. Yet McCain owns 9 houses. He is so out of touch with the middle class it isn't funny

Can someone post a link to EXACTLY what each candidate's plan for taxes are? Because I've seen so many different things, and a friend of mine got an e-mail which seems to me totally skewed one way. Like obviously to favor a specific candidate. I don't want to say who, I just want some accurate information.

StockardFan: I don't think any of us will get the real scoop til the elections are over and the plans are enacted.

PS: mortgage rates are around 5-6%. That's still historically very low. During Carter's administration, they were somewhere around 20%.

Yes I read the Communist Manifesto and that was one aspect of it...how about surplus value....if you look at any countries economics you will see slight hints of Marx in it. He got his ideas from the English, French, and Germans. So if this statement makes Biden a communist does Sarah Palin wanting to ban books make her a Nazi?

It's not marxist, communist, or socialist if the system is designed so that the weatlh is distributed upwards from the many to the few.

Remember all that dough the top 1% is hoarding is going to magically trickle down to the masses.

To me the greatest issue with taxes isn't actual the amount is that so many different hands can actually reach in and take money out. There needs to be less people able to go in and withdraw and more uniformity with a couple of central agencies who then in turn disperse as accorded. I mean most other countries are quiet content to have one central taxes system at a federal level alone, two at worst (state & federal) but in the US is can be Federal, State, County, School Board, Dog Catcher...

It was a Republican who said "Watch my lips. No new taxes." Remember that one? I do and I wasn't even here (in America) then.

Looks linke Bammy and Biden are up to their Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry taxes. They ALWAYS are for a tax increase.
