(no, I'm not talking about anybody here
)
Does anybody watch the NBC show?
The twist this week has been wild... I have to hand it to them. They keep it interesting!
(she says as she watches while snacking and sipping a glass of wine... eek!)
(It really does rip my heart out when someone has to leave)

On House last night he said he likes to watch the show and pretend they can see him eating ice cream. lol
I watched for a moment or two tonight and caught the blonde woman's story about her husband and children. I teared up. Then they cut to that commercial for Yoplait within the show. I hate those.

It's a big product placement and branded entertainment opportunity.
But, at the heart of the program it is so powerful. And truly life-changing.
I really love it.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 10:42pmI enjoy the show but it has been scrutinized lately that the tactics used are not realistic or successful. (Most of the shows contestants have gained significant amounts of weight back). Also, the newest research is showing that weight loss is becoming less about "will power" and looking at food as an addiction and looking at brain function and psychology. Plus, the product placement is off the hook. I love how Jillian has a book touting folks to eat all organic and then she hawks sugar-free gum and pulls out a pre-cooked Jennie O processed turkey in bag. That sounds organic. The Biggest Loser protein powder is the latest shilling. I am starting to wonder about the heart of the show.

I enjoy watching the show, and I want all the contestants to succeed and win. And honestly, even if they aren't the finalist who wins the money at the end, any weight loss and ultimately, better life-style choices they will make in the future should be considered a true winner, and they can all do that.

This is the first time I'm watching the show. I've hit a wall in my own weight loss, so I figure it'll be good inspiration. Tonight, for example, I had to make cookies for my husband's work and consumed so much cookie dough I made myself nauseous. Time to watch some Biggest Loser and find the motivation to get myself back on track tomorrow. I have to say it's working pretty well so far. If nothing else, it makes me realize that I never want to be in the same boat as these folks.
Also, that girl from the purple team is CRAZY. I get that it's a competition and whatnot, but come on! Help from the trainers is worth so much more than a 2-pound advantage. I felt so bad for her partner.
ETA since I finished the episode: Okay, if Tracey's needless drama continues in future episodes, I might not be able to stomach watching this show after all.

No kidding, poor Coach Mo.
They are all going to vote Purple Tracey off as soon as they get the chance.

I also love how they recap after EVERY commercial. By the end you've basically watched the show twice!
I like the show, but only on tivo.

Love this show. There are still too many contestants at this point, though--I enjoy watching once a few players have been let go.
Tracy is nuts. What I disliked the most about her actions was how completely selfish she was. She never took her teammate into consideration and never even apologized to him.
The product placement is a bit much.
