WASHINGTON (CNN) – Bill Clinton said Friday that Barack Obama’s campaign was very impressive, and the Democratic presidential candidate “might win.”
“He’s put together a great campaign. It’s clearly not a fairy tale, it’s real,” Clinton said. “He might win.”
Clinton had called into activist Al Sharpton's radio show to try to address the controversy over his remarks just before the New Hampshire primary that seemed to say the Illinois senator’s campaign was a “fairy tale.”
On Friday, he said that reference was meant to describe news coverage of Obama's war vote, and of his campaign, and not of the viability of his presidential run.
“I was addressing a specific argument. That doesn’t have anything to do with my respect for him as a person or as a political figure,” said the former president.
But he said black voters should support his wife Hillary Clinton over Obama because “You know where her heart and where her life has been.

WTF?
It's every thing but a white flag.
You know a white flag is auto racing is one lap before the end........interesting indeed.
Okay now I really have to call my former boss.....first Janet and now this............
he was the field director for Clinton in 1996. Maybe he knows the deal.
WTF Bill? This better be big news!
this is a targeted message to the people out there who thought that she was a shoe-in and that they need do nothing but sit back and watch her win and those who were trying to save their donations until the general election.
the feeling was that she was being annointed and that's not the case now, but some people still think it is. bill's not dumb. he knows that by doing this he gets national coverage and message gets out to the folks who thought they could sit this out that they cannot.
c'mon folks. think.
That was my first thought...but on top of Janet defecting from the Clinton camp, with which she has always been tight, she was on Bill's short list for AG at one point, around the time of the Elian Gonzales debacle -- she passed.
The timing is odd.
Also considering the host of remarks Bill has made lately that have legitimately hurt Hillary's campaign. He seems a bit at odds with what her campaign is trying to do. That said, he is still her single greatest asset.
I think that the ‘he might win’ message was mainly to African American voters who are starting to think that some of the comments recently are not what they expected from either of the Clintons or from members of Hillary's campaign. Bill Clinton's statement was made when he called into Al Sharpton’s radio show.
Racial tensions roil Democratic race
Is Bill trying to extracate his foot from his mouth?
But he said black voters should support his wife Hillary Clinton over Obama because “You know where her heart and where her life has been.
I don't even know what that means, can someone enlighten me?
