Just watched it again. No matter how many times I see that ending, I get the chills. Just when you see the silhouette of the adult Billy being brought to the wings of the stage, it starts. Then, when you see all the other dancers staring at him. Then, the huge leap, his father visibly taking in a breath, and finally, that stunning scene - he's a bird in the sky. Billy finally flying . I'm still breathless.
Does anyone know how they ended the show in the UK? Is it the same leap? Does he fly? I'm so curious. I'm expecting to be blown away by this show.

Well, I'm in good company!
But does anyone know anything about the UK show?

Posted: 5/3/08 at 6:21pmThe whole cast was Brilliant, but it was Gary Lewis that made it for me. When he found out that Billy made it, I think I cried for twenty minutes....

...actually, Jane, I'm kind of thinking it will be exciting not to know before I see the show. To have another breath-taking moment!

I saw it in London, Jane. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so we can PM.
BTW, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the movie. Heartbreaking, sweet and exhilarating.

Well, I'm assuming it ends the way the movie does, but I;m wondering if they have him flying, since the video shows some early flying. Also, is there more to the ending than just that one leap? I'd love to see him do some more dancing as an adult!
If anyone wants to answer those questions, please pm me. I don't consider it a spoiler since I saw the film and actually know the story.

Posted: 5/4/08 at 2:25amI also saw it in London and will be happy to share the changes from screen to stage. There were a couple of things that disappointed me ... moments from the film that I wanted to see on stage ... but I understood why they made the changes they did. It is one of my favorite films and the BEST show I have ever seen.

I bought tickets for the show tonight back on Sunday, and on Tuesday my writing teacher told our class that we would be watching the movie on Thursday (today). We didn't get to finish it--but it is probably the most powerful movie I have ever seen. I cannot wait to see the show tonight--and I can't wait to watch the end of the movie (which I will be missing on Tuesday morning, as I will be heading home to Texas).
I have to go out and buy this movie! Best Buy run either later today or tomorrow :).

Ooh Parks, if you were moved by the part of the film you did see, wait until you see the very end! OMG.
I watched it a few more times since this thread, and I still get just as moved as the first time.
