Already making my life hell at my job. And now there's a lightning storm.

I'm in Central Suffolk. The lights just blinked. I don't know whether it's because of the storm or the number of Christmas lights I have on right now.

Stuck in San Diego due to the blizzard...which, of course, could be worse. But I do kinda wanna go home.

A snow emergency has been declared for Hamilton, NJ from 8pm tonight until 1pm tomorrow. So that means I can't go to work and I'm out of vacation/sick days.

Hmmm... so while I'm in Albany, Buffalo gets hit. I come home to Buffalo for Christmas, and the east coast gets it. Guess I keep missing the snow! Enjoy it :-P!

I've beem waiting for this.
The Bronx Zoo has a trio of Siberian tiger cubs. I can't wait to go back and see them play in the snow!
Greatest show in town, for now.

Since I moved up here after all of the snow storms last season, I have no clue what the protocol is to find out if my job is even going to be open. It's a small office so there's not like a call in service to find out. So, we'll just see what happens.

Ps. I heard there were about 100 accidents today on the NJ turnpike. SCARY

I'm not really fazed by blizzards having grown up where they were a regular occurrence, but what's getting me about this storm is the thunder and lightning! WHAT is that about?!

I got an automated phone call from one of the school districts I sub for telling me that school was closed tomorrow. Ummm....Yes, they're closed for Christmas break. Duh!

That's really the best way to do it, Spider. My company isn't large either and the two years I've been there we've never closed for snow.

The company I worked for before had a home office in Kalamazoo, MI. So, they weren't too impressed by our "snow emergencies" and they never closed either.

But if there's a snow emergency it's best to stay off the roads since that's what the municipality is asking you to do. Getting a paycheck is not more important than your safety.

Ok. Coworker just got back to me and we are closed until 1pm tomorrow (as of right now).

That's when your snow emergency is scheduled to end and at the time of my phone call the president of my company was unaware (she lives in PA). So,I wouldn't be surprised if the same happened here.

The wind is insane. None of the cars on the street are covered in snow which is really strange.
I have time so I'll call in. I live on the corner and I have to dig out with my new shovel.

My mother and I went outside to shovel three times, but it doesn't look like we made a dent in it at all.

The wind is insane. None of the cars on the street are covered in snow which is really strange.

There's absolutely no snow on the sidewalk across the street from us. It's kind of annoying.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Your mother is out there shoveling snow and you're posting messages on the computer.. Then you have the audacity to mention "WE" didn't make a dent in it.
