You totally left out The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, with Dame Judi Dench, and The Perfect Family with Kathleen Turner!
Other than those two, I cannot wait for Dark Shadows, and Moonrise Kingdom.

Does anyone else think this summer has just been awful for movies? I saw just about everything, and honestly the only movies I loved were the Katy Perry movie, Rock of Ages, and Ted. I liked Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter as well, but didn't love it. I did not care for the Avengers or the new Spiderman at all. Batman was pretty disappointing too. The Campaign was absolutely dreadful, Hope Springs was a snooze fest, Brave was beyond terrible, Sparkle was a depressing mess of a movie, and Magic Mike was just weird. I saw lots of others too, but I can't remember them...
I'm seeing Hit and Run tomorrow, but it doesn't like that will break the track record. Looking forward to the fall and winter movies a lot more.

A disappointing summer for sure but if you haven't seen Paranorman yet do yourself a favor and check it out. A late summer surprise that was easily the most entertaining movie of the summer for me.
I also really enjoyed Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

That EW list actually did get most of it right.

I enjoyed The Avengers and TDKR but they are binary opposites and no big budget film really struck the antidote balance.

I did like the smaller films like Red Hook Summer, Bernie, Moonrise Kingdom, Sleepwalk with Me, and I feel that is because these films have no big ambitions.

V/H/S was also pretty good but has opened to limited screens.

I waffle on Prometheus. I feel bad that the sequel will have to spend so much time explaining what stuff in the first film meant. Proof that a script can really bring down outstanding elements to a film. Lindelof should best be not near the sequel and stick to JJ Abrams fare.

I liked the smaller films as well...Red Hook Summer was definitely one and dare I say it: SPARKLE. Yeah, I said it. Go ahead and make fun...it is what it is...
