Does anyone know what she is up to lately? Is she performing at all? Her official site seems to have vanished. Thanks!

I don't think she's performing at the moment. She's incredible though, isn't she? I really enjoy her 'Rhode Island is Famous for You." Do you know who wrote that?

She had a few CDs on Polygram- Mercury and Verve labels that CAN NOT be missed. Her voice and style are inimitable.
And, that is her real name!
I saw her a year and a half ago. She was having a lot of trouble remembering lyrics. She may have given up live performing at this point, at least doing an entire show on her own.

i saw her last year & she was fantastic!!
she's one of my favorites, & she has such a large body of work, its a shame that more isnt in print.
DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM was her haunt; now that its closed, i dont know where she *could* play
i just checked, you are right...the whole DAFFODIL RECORDS (her private label) site is gone....i hope that she's ok!
Yes, Danny's is where I saw her, Norn. Fabulous drawing! Wow! Brings me right back there.
The obligatory YouTube link, for those who haven't experienced her.

She does the finest version of "It Might As Well Be Spring" [in French!] on one of her albums. It has a green cover.
Love, love, LOVE Blossom.
When did Danny's close?

OMG! OMG! OMG! I totally got that! Yes! She was part of my childhood! I've known Blossom Dearie all of my life and I didn't even know it!!!
does anyone know how i might be able to find that song that Blossom played at the beginning of that YouTube link on mp3?
What a great clip, PJ! Thanks for posting it.
*sigh*
Love her.
EDIT: And Norn, I've said before and will gladly say again... I adore your rendition of Miss Dearie. So perfect.
This link is for RB... and everyone else who grew up with Blossom Dearie and didn't know it.

Such an unassuming, highly personal voice. Nothing showy or in-your-face about it... and yet oh, so emotionally memorable.
Dear Sweet Smoking Jesus!!!!!
That was Blossom Dearie?!?!?!?
God! I haven't seen that thing in over thirty years!!
I love her voice. I always think that it would be the voice that an antique baby doll would have.
Dietz and Schwartz wrote "Rhode Island".
Peel me a grape? Anyone?
Please...

I'd have sworn Blossom Dearie had done more than two SHRs, but alas, adjectives & 8 seem to be it.
I credit schoolhouse rock not only for my knowledge of grammar, multiplication and US history, but also a deep appreciation for great American jazz musicians.
In Ft. Myers, Florida, theres a tiny little blonde woman who plays the piano and sings at a famous historic restaurant called "The Veranda". Her name is Lila, and she has been playing there nightly since at least 1984, of not much longer, and she looks and sounds EXACTLY like Blossom Dearie. It is uncanny. I would almost swear that they are the same woman, and, as a matter of fact, having never seen them in the same room at the same time, I'm not exactly sure at this moment!
Lila sounds so much like Blossom that you would not be able to tell them apart on recordings.
I swear.
