my God, this still gets to me all these years later...what an amazing song.
I agree. Freddy had one of the all time greatest voices in pop music.
So love this song, so love this group!!

When I was student teaching, the boys in my 8th grade choirs were taking issue with singing in falsetto. They didn't find it manly enough and would giggle whenever they hear it being done.
My cooperating teacher brought in this song to demonstrate that falsetto could sometimes be really cool.
A lot of the kids had never heard the song, which was really sad.
But, the cool part was a bunch of the punk guys in the class who were entirely unparticipatory (we were lucky if they'd stay awake and actually open their mouth to sing once the entire tri) all knew every single lyric and lip synced the song for the class (complete with flawless air guitar). The day she played that song was the most engaged I ever saw them.
I freakin' love Queen. And yes, Freddie Mercury is THE best male vocalist in rock . . . . PERIOD! I heard some of the cd of Queen's latest tour with a new guy up front and all I can say is, I missed hearing Freddie on lead. I mean, the guy had a good voice and all but, ya know!
Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but think of that scene in the movie Wayne's World.

I also liked Freddy's looks-teeth and all!

It's Freddie. (Not Freddy.) And yep, he was very cool-looking, even with those typically English teeth!
I like Freddy. It's a lot like my own name.
Recently saw this done in a cabaret performance and it was hysterical! I kept thinking of the Sweeny Sisters and kept laughing!
This is one of my favorite bands.

And it was involved in one of the seminal moviegoing moments of my childhood:
The car scene in WAYNE'S WORLD.

My school choir recently did this song for our end of the year concert, complete with full band and "choreography" (aka random hand movements and head banging). Not saying we did it any justice, just that it was so much fun to do.
When I was in "Rumors" we would listen to bohemian rhapsody every night before the show in our dressing rooms.
