I don't know HOW many "lesbians" I have met online that were really men. In the game Second Life there is a HUGE lesbian player base and I would just go ahead and assume they were all guys. One of my "friends", Robin, was playing and met a girl and they started "dating" through the game. We all assume this included lots of cyber sex. They were the happy rainbow couple, flying their flags with pride. A few months later Robin has this big dramatic meltdown when all of our friends were together in game. She said she had just found out her "girlfriend" was a guy. She said it felt like she had been raped. At that point I blew my top and told Robin that I had known she was really a man for two years. No one heard from "her" after that.
I just get a giggle at the idea of two straight men getting off thinking they are chatting up a lesbian.

Yes. I am not saying it has to be a bad thing that the guys are posing as lesbian writers.
Wondering how common it is.
In this case it posed problems when it seems they represented things to other people who felt betrayed.
And in Macmaster's case it could have become an international incident if someone trying to help the mythical girl had been detained, tortured, or killed.

Posted: 6/15/11 at 1:42amYes, they were both men. It happens all the time, apparently. lol Lots of men go into these role play type game pretending to be lesbians and they get some kick out of it. I guess if you are into the girl on girl thing, you get to see it described in great detail direct from the source. It's like personal porn, I guess. I just never crosses those weird lines in a game, so it was never an issue. It's not always easy to tell who is who behind the characters.
