Hey can all of you who think you have the best bread pudding please send it here?
I don't travel much.
DD-I swear we will meet in person one of these days. When you're here, though!
Oh, and soak it over night.
Really? soak the bread overnight? that's a lot of waiting!
It'll be worth it
Will do, Jane. But seriously, in my house mom uses only stale bread ... bread that was not eaten during the week and gets hard as a rock. The pudding would vary depending on what kind of bread we had that week.
Anyway ... I'll keep an eye out here and I've been on a bread pudding kick myself.
OK! going to bed-will try it tomorrow!
and thanks!
WOW-OMG and all that! I had lunch today at the Grammercy Tavern (my new fav restaurant). The meal was one of the best I ever had, but for dessert we got the WARM CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING WITH CACAO CHIPS ICE CREAM!!!
I died and went to heaven!
Heaven? REALLY???
Well, that's my surprise for the day.
Hey! Do you mean I was supposed to go down below?
Jane, that's none of my business!
??? I think I missed an episode!
Best bread to use for Bread Pudding is Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Raison. Croissants are mucho yummy too!
Thanks! one of these days I'm going to make my own. Meanwhile, I bought a piece from Food Emporium tonight.

Is bread pudding really that good? I've never tried it. It LOOKS nasty to me.
Huge fan of rice pudding, though!

Blue, this looks nasty?
I love rice pudding too. I eat it every day for breakfast. Well, my healthy version with brown rice.
Jane ... I blame you for my current craving for bread pudding!!!
I accept that blame, DD! I'm on a kick too. I had it for lunch, and now I bought another piece for tomorrow. I call it research-I have to determine what kind is best!

I'm on a sweets kick, too (which is unlike me, as I usually crave salty foods). I can't keep my hands off the freaking Candy Cane Joe-Joe's!
What are those, Blue?
I agree - don't use white bread as in Wonder Bread, but the Pepperidge Farm toasting white is good. Or challah. Even French bread! Every different type of bread will give you a different outcome. I also like the Arnold's 15 Grain bread because all the little nuts and seeds add texture and flavor. And it never comes out crunchy or crusty unless the bread isn't soaked long enough.

Cookies from Trader Joe's, Jane. A colleague of mine bought them into work. They're like Double Stuf Oreos with crushed peppermint in the cream.
I think I'd use some sort of white bread because I prefer less spiciness and extras in my bread pudding~

This has the highest rating on the Food Network site, and I've made it, it is AWESOME.

Wonder Bread?!
They don't make that any more. I was so sad to go to the store this last week and I realized that the last loaf that I had was going to be my LAZT loaf.
Oh, and just an idea, how about Hawaiian Sweet Bread?
Croissants seem to be a popular choice. I may just have to try that idea!
