Update. It was a robbery attempt at Tourneau. Mall not closed Suspect in custody and one bystander shot in back and condition unknown.

Yeah Strict gun control in California did not stop San Bernadino. In addition, it is naive to believe it would stop criminals from getting guns . This was a robbery and unfortunately these happen all the time

Glad you agree. I do not say everyone has to agree . Unfortunately, you can no longer have a spirited debate on any subject. It has turned into slash and burn- agree with me or insults will be hurled at you.
I am totally turned off politics because of this. A pox on both parties.I no longer care about anything political and do not post or start anything political in nature. You cannot have a rational discussion so I do not even bother trying. It is a shame but it simply is not worth it anymore.

All one has to do is look at Australia for an example. They had a mass killing, they stopped the selling of military grade semi automatics, haven't had a mass shooting since. Of course gun control on a state by state or city by city is not going to work. How could it when all you need to do is to cross a border and get a gun? I am not in anyway against gun ownership. I just think that a gun owner should have to go through the exact same process one has to go through to drive a car and be required to carry liability insurance. I also believe that the government should push for the smart gun technology.
Roxy, I didn't say how bad it was, you are projecting. I am glad the mall is reopened and hopefully no one was hurt. If you don't want people replying to your posts don't post Chicken Little Threads.

The number of firearms-related deaths is in the low hundreds each year."

Sadly that is exactly the point Erikj972. if the USA by magic was to ban all guns, terrorist and criminals would still be able to get their hands on them from Mexico, Canada and other places. All you have to do is look at all the narcotics, sex slaves, fireworks, wild animal pets etc that are illegal but easy to get even in the example of drugs in schools. It is just not realistic

I agree that if someone wants a gun, they can get it. However, I also agree that making it harder for the general public to get a gun is a good thing.

"Strict" gun laws seems to be a very subjective opinion. I have yet to see any gun laws in the US I could consider "strict" in the slightest.

My Da was an advid hunter and would travel back and forth to Canada. It is not that easy to carry guns across that border. He left one of his guns up there once and it was used in a domestic abuse case. No one was shot but it was used as a threat. The next day there were officials knocking at his door in Connecticut.

A well-regulated militia NO LONGER being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to bear arms shall henceforth be considered a privilege and no longer a right. This privilege shall be limited to licensed possession, ownership, carrying and use of small firearms including revolvers and self-loading pistols, rifles and carbines, but excluding assault rifles, submachine guns and light machine guns. Also excluded from the civilian privilege shall be heavy machine guns; hand-held grenade launchers; portable anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns; recoilless rifles; portable launchers of anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile systems.
