Coming soon to a PBS station near you, the British ripoff of Mad Men titled Breathless. Set in the 1960s, an overworked doctor (Jack Davenport), with a blonde wife, harbors a dark secret from his past which could shatter his entire existence. Rounding out the cast are a dutiful, but mousy nurse, a competitive colleague and a redhead trying to better her situation.
Also in the show is Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacy; Love Actually) who does a great job with her character.

Eh, it was okay.
There are some similarities to Mad Men, but "rip-off" is a bit strong.

Posted: 8/30/14 at 9:37pmMissed to many episodes. In addition, any show we like has a nasty habit of being cancelled. As you see, it is better off we do not.

It is better that you are not canceled? Your last sentence confuses me. The Good Wife is about to enter its sixth year--so, I don't think you risk running out of episodes anytime soon.
I thought Breathless was kinda lame. Great cast, but not great writing.

Posted: 8/31/14 at 4:49pmYou complained that you found it too daunting to watch a show with so many episodes, and then complained that you would not watch a show you were worried would be canceled suddenly (and, I would suspect, think didn't have enough episodes.)

I think what Roxy was trying to say is that if he started watching, he would jinx it - and for our sakes, it would be better if he stayed away.
In any case, it's Roxy's loss. Best show on TV!

Posted: 8/31/14 at 5:41pmI think we all know the disappointment of a show that we really invest in and enjoy and then the plug gets pulled and leaves us bummed out. I've had several shows like that. I can understand the hesitancy of taking the journey of a new show only to be led to an unsatisfying conclusion.

Hey I have never seen Breaking Bad. I intend to start watch that on Netflix or dvd as its run is over so I can not hurt it.
Re Goth's statement, Mrs R likes Tyrant and wants it to return for a 2nd season. No idea if it will or not.

"It was a huge flop in the UK and cancelled after the first season."
Poor Jack Davenport is the kiss of death on a tv series. Breathless, Smash, Swingtown. Maybe he needs a better agent.
