It personalizes an issue that Bush is trying to talk about in non-specifics. When he talks about things he does and doesn't want gays to be able to do to make him say that he is then specifically going to withold those rights from someone he knows personally is completely valid.

Make him say that he wants to keep Dick Cheney's daughter from having the ability to marry, make him say it with Cheney right there, make it PERSONAL. We're talking about real people when we're talking about the gay marriage issue, it's NOT a faceless economic issue. Real people, some Bush knows personally, will be hurt by his ignorant ideas. No harm in calling him on it and making him say to HER (even if its through the filter of a debate or a press question) what she will or won't be allowed to do if his close-minded agenda is put through. Their latent homophobia rears its head when they say it's dirty to call a lesbian a lesbian.

Once again, defending myself against being a homophobe in a self-selecting community awash with gay sensibility.

I never suggested that it was "dirty" to call a lesbian a lesbian. I suggested that it was crappy politics to bring up someone's name who is not supporting your political campaign, to use as a means for gaining support.

I love lesbians, love them as friends, love them as people, and love them loving each other.

People's inability to effectively communicate what they mean is not my problem. If you can't write, don't join a message community where the entire communication will be in writing. I have no problem conveying what I mean through the written word, which is why probably I don't have entire message boards pissed off at me, even when there are people there I don't personally agree with or like.

Zoalicious, I do know gay people and I like them. Now if they declared that I HAVE to agree with them OR ELSE, like all of you do, then I would stop liking them. I have been in a theater. This past May I saw Millie, Gypsy, and Here Lies Jenny all in the same day. Boy my butt was tired. I used to be invloved with community theater, but I moved and there is none where I live now.
