Madonna is FAR worse.

I like Britney's voice, I think it's just perfect for her type of music. It's just when she actually does sing a simple ballad like "Everytime" live, she can't really do it. She has great notes and hideoues notes. When she was younger and she did sing live, it really wasn't much different from the cd.

Have not heard this song yet, but am very frightened.

"Toxic" is indeed addicting.

Still don't understand that creepy "Everytime" video.

And I will ALWAYS mentally associate "Baby, One More Time" with physical abuse.

Madonna used to be a naughty girl in the lip synching stakes, especially on Blond Ambition and Girlie Show, but the last 2 tours have been 95% live, because she went and got a shedload of training on her voice and it shows. Perhaps Ms Spears could do the same.

This sounds like a cue for Voiceanth!

I could see you trying to make a point like that if she were just standing still onstage or doing light movement. The way she dances and the style of her music would make it impossible to sing most of her songs live. In her last concert...did you see it? She sang five or six of her songs with no dancing live and did a fine job. Why are you so bitter toward her anyway? Did she steal you're part on the Mickey Mouse club?

Pop...agreed that she should go get some intense vocal training, because she could be better. But honestly, I've seen madonna shows, and they didn't hold a candle to Spears' performances, lipsyncing or not.

I am not a rabid Madonna fan (ask jrb), but her concerts are an incredible experience. Britney is a total pretender in the live show stakes when put against Madonna.

I have seen both Britney and Madonna in concert and I agree that Madonna is much better. She also has 25 years of experience going for her.

I've just always found Britney Spears a better live performer...to me she just has more powerful stage presence than Madonna in a live show.

A brief compare and contrast of Re-Invention versus Onyx Hotel when they both arrive on DVD should hopefully illustrate who is more the master at their craft.

haha....right now I'm comparing 'Drowned' to 'Dream Within a Dream' and 'Onyx Hotel.' Plus other various television performances. Updated On: 9/17/04 at 02:22 PM

When she sang Everytime on SNL it was very good. The problem with the Onyx Hotel tour is the placement of the song - she's been dancing around like a maniac for 40 - 60 minutes at that point. And then she's supposed to sit and sing a ballad. Very bad planning.

I have no problem with Britney. While it is true that she couldn't last on Broadway, she's amazing at what she does. Studio help or not, "In The Zone" is one of the most entertaining CDs I own.

Rath...i never thought of that, but I guess that's why...she did sound a little short on breathe when speaking before the song as well, but on SNL the song sounded really nice.

And "In The Zone" is so addicting...it's definitely the album that comes from the pop world that I listen to the most.

Britney is a great performer, however her singing has gotten significantly(sp?) worse as her carear has grown.

My favorite Britney moment ever was when she sang Walk This Way with Aerosmith at the Superbowl a few years ago. She rocked the sh*t out of it, sounded amazing and was plainly having the time of her life. I naturally assumed after that that her "people" would have the brains to move her in that direction. Alas, that hasn't happened.

"I have seen her perform live a LOT but I have never ONCE heard her sing. She ALWAYS lip synchs, which makes me think she has a LOT of studio help."

THAT is a large festering line of crap! Ive seen Britney 3 times lives and each time it was (whether you enjoyed it or not) obvious she was doing it LIVE. And I know this due to the fact that it sounded absolutely NOTHING like the CD. So unless the sound team sucked so bad that they made a CD sound live, your argument for lip-synching is just plain ridiculous.

CLAYTON HAMILTON, "Theory of the Theatre" "I think theater ought to be theatrical ... you know, shuffling the pack in different ways so that it's -- there's always some kind of ambush involved in the experience. You're being ambushed by an unexpected word, or by an elephant falling out of the cupboard, whatever it is." TOM STOPPARD

Rath, I don't think i could ever pick my favorite Britney moment, she's rocked the sh*t out of SO many performances, but somehow the 2000 VMAs Satisfaction/Oops performance always comes to mind.

And Guido is right...I've seen Britney live several times, and each time she at least did a few songs live. Most of the songs that involved a lot of dancing she would have a live mic, but the track playing as well. Lately she's just been lisyncing songs with dancing...and neglecting the singing and saving it for the one or two ballads she performs.

Britney Spears can not sing for her life and she is the definition of white trash. In a word, shes a slut.

If i were her, god forbid, i dont think i could live with myself.
