Pascal's Civilian-Simply amazing IMO
Kristin Chenoweth's-Let Yourself Go-Very amazing
Anything by Linda Eder
That's all I can think of now, but there are loads more.

re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

And, you'll appreciate Civilian a lot more if you check out Model Prisoner, too. It's great in its own right, but different.

Here-Idina Menzel
Bernie's R&H CD is good
I've heard that Daphne Rubin-Vegas CD is really good to.

Linda Eder's "Broadway My Way" is amazing!
I love Kristin's "Let Yourself Go".
Idina's "Here" is short but sweet.
Idina's "Still I Can't Be Still" is different. Don't listen to it as much as "Here".

Sorry for threadjacking, but...

Emcee I recently just found out how amazing Raul Esparza is. I knew about him for awhile, but never heard any of his work. I did yesterday and now I think I'm going to fall in love. There best be enough of him to share!

re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

wooo!! He's brilliant. Absolutely stunning in anything he has done, is doing, and will ever do. His vibrato kind of makes my heart melt, and I tell anyone who might listen that he's the best actor I'll ever have the privilege of getting to see. I love that man so, so much. He's pretty easy to fall for; I think it took about 3.2 second of stage time, and he had me. He's the nicest guy you could hope to meet, too - fabulous sense of humor, astounding eloquence and intelligence, and a total class-act.

well, yay for a soap-box threadjack to confess my love! heh.

I sort of wish he'd do a recording of showtunes, or something (to keep sort of to topic, heh).

I like it when Bway stars record a showtune album rather than a pop rock yadda yadda one b/c they can use the voice that we're used to and love. I haven't heard Adam's cds but if they're anything like his track on "Hair" then I want me some of that!

Raul on TTB, TRHS, & Taboo=WOW!

He sounds a little bit different on this stuff than he does when he sings for theatre, but he's really singing (and screaming!) his heart out.

Emcee, what did you do to me? I just woke up screaming "ADAM, who's your mama?!" in someone's backyard and mean dogs chased me all the way home!

re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

One of my favorites of his is "Liken a Razor". I could use that for an audition if I ever come across one that doesn't require a musical theatre song :-P Since I have that "pascal growl" tone to my voice re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

Could be fun, hehehe. But seriously. I love Adam's solo music. Anthony Rapp has some good music too, on his "Look Around" album. and of course Idina's "Still I Can't Be Still" is a favorite of mine.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

Susan Egan's "So Far" is wonderful

How is Melissa Errico's solo CD? I was thinking about buying it the other day...

re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

I love Alice Ripley's "Everything's Fine." It is almost entirely self-written and her voice is in fine form. You wouldn't expect her to sound right for pop-folk, but she modifies her singing wonderfully.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

re: Broadway Stars Solo CDs

I'll enthusiastically second Alice's Everything's Fine, and for a more rock venture, you can check out her 5 track EP for her new band, RIPLEY (ripleytheband.com)...it's only $5! I'd also recommend Cerveris' Dog Eared, and Anthony Rapp's Look Around (though that's probably my least favorite of the three).

ETA: I somehow missed that Look Around was already mentioned...oops! Gotta love "Out, Out Damn Spot" though!!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
