I posted this yestday and shortly after, it disappeared. And Rob didn't deleate it. So..let's try it again.
A friend went the the preview and said the show was flat, boring and unimaginative. The plot is thin and the show way too long to sustain any interest.
The music? It's as if American Idol arranged all the songs. They have to kick in all those modulations to create some lyrical excitment.
She found the acting to be lacking all around. The actors were hired for singing ability rather than communicating any emotion. Basically look like they were told to stand and sing.
She said it's one of the worst shows she's seen in recent years. It reminded her of "Metro" (and who remembers that?). She said all this adavnced hype by people who haven't even seen the show will, inronically, be the thing that kills BKLYN. Once people see how bad it is, the show won't last.
I thought it was great. ::shrugs:: The book needs some work, but the songs are amazing.
So does she know the winning lottery numbers too?
and your ignorant point would be?
mr. tuttle, these kids think that if a review is bad, it's wrong... their's are the opinions that matter, not anyone elses... i also want to add that we had a friend in town on his way to perform at Bucks, who saw the show last night... he said had there been an intermission, he would have walked out, theshow was that bad... but since it isn't a first hand comment, it's probably wrong... She already knows they show will be killed by its fans. So does she also know how I will die since she's predicting the future? lol
"Everybody dies," Kiki used to say. "That's all you need to know."
I posted my review last night, and while I would not have walked out at intermission, I did look at my watch around 15 times. I just felt that the book was really amateur. The voices are incredible, no doubt, but far from the best score that I have ever heard. I do look forward to seeing it again in November to see if changes have been made. I hope so, because I do see potential.

It all sounds very Taboo-like, which is what I feared (granted, only because it was going into the Plymouth). Great talent, good score, weak book, etc. I'm not making any judgements on it until I see, but I am quite excited.
Do need to remember though, that this is the time when the changes are made. So the weak parts that suck now may be eliminated or completely reworked by opening night. Surely wouldn't fix a mess, whether or not it constitutes as one is not my place to say, but this is what previews are for. I hope it at least gets a good chance.
and since your post yesterday was deleted, i want to write my response from yesterday.
Dearest Mr Tuttle..thank you for your support on BKLYN the musical you see, you're too stupid to understand that neg. publicity by you is still YOUR time spent writing a childish review. Like I said, I am very sorry you never made it..and never will.
xoxo
Amneris
Amneris- Forgive me for pointing out that you've always been very outspoken in your posts/reviews about other shows, even before a show had previews. I don't understand why you are on such a roll with this one and attacking anyone who writes something not so positive. I'm just observing a double standard here.
ohhh WAHHHH tuttle called me crazy and stupid guess he sees a pretty thick mirror... listen babe..I lead a VERY good life :) I mean it's close to midnight...I went out.it's pretty clear YOU stayed on line all night thinking of a "clever" response to amstupids post.
just remember dear when you change someones life, you're changing your own... it's in your bible, read about it.

Amneris, Tuttle posted that over 3 hours ago.
I really don't see why it bothers you so much that someone didn't like this show. If you like it, than good for you. Other people are in fact entitled to their own opinions.
this has nothing to do with tuttle or anybody disliking this show or any show..the fact of the matter is tuttle is always DOWN RIGHT vicious towards me and other posters.
You can come back and say im a hypocrite because I answer his stupidness but, I don't understand why one is SO mean.
Yes, but this post was not directed towards you. Your response was a direct attack on him which in this case wasn't called for.

Amneris said earlier, before the show opened, when pressed, that she had a connection with someone in the production. I sure she DOES love the show, but that connection explains her fierceness in defending it and her...ummm...nastiness in her unwillingness to hear anything bad about it.
People are going to have differing opinions. Just because they do doesn't mean they are out to destroy the people you love. Ya gotta get a grip!
I don't wanna hear anything bad about it too, not because i have someone that i know in the production, because i'm a FAN of the show. (YES, i did see the show in denver, and i'm going to see it on broadway october 7th + Nov. 2nd + Dec. 9th)
like I said... im the next Liz Smith of 2004.
When you're right, you're right... i guess it would be like you guys defending a family member if they were in a fight with someone.
BUT... i'd like to add *burp* that I did send Mr Tuttle a PM and I wish for that person to respond.

Oh, and i KNOW that if Mr. Tuttle will see Brooklyn again AFTER opening night, he will find the show to be more then "American Idol" and definitely NOT the "worst show he ever saw". Previews can be really different from the final show.
I'm gonna go off topic and ask all: Does anyone else think this is the funniest thread of the day? Because I think it most certainly is.
Any minute now Eden's gonna post. Let me check my crystal ball.
no phantom... Roger Rabbit is going to post before her.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
On my way home from the theatre tonight, a group of people who had just come from Brooklyn were complaining about how horrible it was. Not good word of mouth for it's first week out.
