It is pretty funny, Delphine. I love hearing how great it is,WITHOUT QUESTION OR ARGUMENT from people who have never seen it or have seen it in an earlier incarnation and not even in this round of previews, when presumably things are changing everyday anyway.

Amneris, defending a family member in an argument is a lot different from accepting a bad review gracefully. I hope whoever you know in the production has a thicker skin than you do. An opinion is an opinion, an experience is an experience, and it is not aimed like a kick to the groin of your loved one. It is a personal opinion, a personal experience of a show on Broadway, one of many shows seen over a lifetime. There is nothing innately more special or less special about it beyond the viewer's experience of it, and that particular viewer had a bad experience. You cannot negate that experience by arguing or calling them names. You can probably enhance the negativity of it, however.

People in theater always throw their hearts and souls into their productions. Unfortunately, many get bad reviews and they simply have to learn to take it and go on...go on with the show or go on to the next one. If they let it destroy them...they are destroyed. Can't work. You need to take a lesson from them and develop the ability to separate self...or your love of whoever...from their involvement in and commitment to, a show. By trying to protect them, so unreasonably, in such a public place, you are only hurting them.

Hey, hey, hey. Let's not drag DOTV into this discussion. Some of us enjoyed the production.

I haven't heard or read a single soul make such a comparison Amneris. You trying to change the subject? Or did Ollie's give you hallucinations as well?

Don't fall for it, Phantom2. She's just desperate, lookin' for someone to insult, or hoping someone will insult something else WORSE than the perceived attacked on her beloveds....

No, it's not hateful. It was an honest review of someone who did not like a show that a LOT of people aren't liking.

Hi Amneris,

In this thread, Mr. Tuttle's friend compared it to "Metro". Sorry you felt turned upon by me...I didn't mean to. I felt your defenses were unreasonable and the name-calling inappropriate, and that your personal involvement was causing you to behave in ways detrimental to you, the show, and your friend/family member. By bringing another controversial show into the mix, which had never been mentioned before in connection with Brooklyn, I felt you were trying to pull "a fast one" and called you on it. I may be wrong, but....I don't think I am. I've not seen Brooklyn, I have nothing for or against it, if I get to NY while it is running I will probably see it but I won't make a special trip for it....there are very, very few things I can make a special trip anywhere for. I bear the show no ill, I want everyone to succeed always...almost :)...and I have nothing against any of the show's fans except the ones who resort to foul mouth insults in lieu of reasonable discussion.

At that, I'm leaving this thread to those who actually have some stake in it, unless, of course, I feel the need to clarify something else.... re: Brooklyn Bad Review re: Brooklyn Bad Review
