The debate starts in 15 minutes. I'm watching the CNN coverage now. Here's where we can post our thoughts! (Really, I just wanted an excuse to write "Master Debator". Say it out loud. - Too much Joe Schmo Show.)

Any predictions, aside from Kerry trumping Bush again, wire or no wire?

BTW - what's the focus tonight? Domestic policy?

It's an open topic area. It's a townhall style thing, so there will be questions about just about everything, I'm sure.

My prediction: Kerry will seem more relaxed (which may not be good), and Bush will force himself to not make an angry face.

Will the format be different from the first debate? I hope they can actually interact with each other this time 'round.

No, I think it is them speaking to the audience with questions addressed to each individual as opposed to an audience member bringing up a topic and asking them to slug it out.

Although, I would laugh heartily if Kerry pile drived Bush a la WWE.

The questions will be chosen by the moderator from the questions submitted by the audience. The candidates cannot question each other, although they CAN ask rhetorical questions.

No wire tonight. It would be too risky in this format. However, I predict that Bush will do better tonight....really, anything short of meltdown will be viewed as an improvement. I would imagine that Rove and the boys have worked George hard during the past week. I expect to see a surprising improvement. That being said. I still think he is a moron who can't synthesize information and package it into a coherent thought. But I suspect he has memorized a large variety of stock answers that can be plugged in to reply to the questions.

It's only 7 minutes in. He's got 83 more minutes to unravel. But I agree with you. No stuttering or awkward pauses as of yet.

Matt, you're watching a different debate than I am...Bush has already started repeating himself, his gestures are confrontational, and Kerry is explaining himself and he seems jolly. =)

So they are allowed to address each other. Nice. This is gonna get interesting.

I wish they'd talk more about domestic issues. But there's still a long time to go. Kerry's looking good, even though he's going heavy on the offensive.

As someone who was part of the US national debate team, Kerry is stepping all over Bush in this one. It's not even a contest. Painfully winning. Bush is really losing bad tonight. Unless something horrible happens, Kerry will be a landslide winner tonight.

Cheney won on Tuesday, btw...however sad that is, it is true.

I hope that this debate makes an impact on the state of Missouri. I have talked to sooo many idoits who are scared sh*tless about terrorists and will believe anything the republicans tell them. I had one woman tell me that Kerry is an Evil Liberal Socialist. She then didn't know what a socialist was when I questioned her and proceeded to say she gets all of her political info via forwarded emails. MO is a very important swing state, and I hope that they swing the Kerry way. My ballot is in the mail!
