(Auntie Sabre puts her hair in a bun, pulls on best school marm gingham dress, pulls glasses down to tip of nose so she can look over them and purses lips.)
Perhaps it is more of a Canadian idiom. I'll try to do an "english to english" translation( for the Yankee mindset)
"Baby" refers to a person of a more mature stature who is behaving in a childish id centric manner. "wah wah I want my bottle/job/ego strokes." Sucky a term for something unpleasant. "i got fired- that so sucks". It also references the crying baby seeking comfort from it's bottle.
Would you find the older school yard phrase "cry baby" more
illustrative?
Out of everything there I find it amusing that this is the item you focus on. Still,in the grand course of things, it all counts for naught.
Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada, has become embroiled in this story, as well. Her initial support of Ghomeshi was met with criticism on Twitter, and she has now followed up with a qualified response.

My take, based on the initial sketchy “facts,” is that it’s entirely possible that both parties are telling their own truths. Ghomeshi has likely engaged in rough sex with many women in the past, and likely has received verbal and “written” (in the form of emails or texts) confirmation of consent (which is what, perhaps, he is offering as his “proof” of consent) in the past. So from his perspective these encounters were all consensual “scenes” like he had engaged in with other women. With some of these women responding negatively to the activity, he disassociated himself with them. He portrays this as a jilted lover, although the women may characterize it as them wanting nothing to do with him.
The women described in the Toronto Star article were young (described as being 20 years his junior), perhaps impressed to be dating a good-looking, famous man, who has interviewed many even more famous people. Perhaps the idea of 50 Shades of Gray-esque light bondage with a powerful, charismatic older man seemed exciting. But at some point what they thought was supposed to be soft core turned into hard core, and what was exciting became frightening. Because they had already acquiesced to the initial tryst and had seemingly consented, they may have been too embarrassed or ashamed (or frightened of the power that Ghomeshi, a famous person, had) to report this without the aid of a sympathetic ear and the prospect of there being other women who were in similar circumstances.
So, the two parties may have seen the same activity (BDSM) in two different lights: as consensual rough sex or as sex that overstepped the bounds of (the initial) consent. In this case, neither parties may be “lying” but are telling the story in a way that puts them in the best light. To me, this seems more likely than one side blatantly lying and the other side telling the complete truth.

Eric, am I missing something? I read the linked article/interview. What makes Brown terrible? If anything, it sounds like he's filling a glaring void in media criticism in Canada. He seems pretty smart and thoughtful. He has a bit of ego, but anyone with that kind of entrepreneurial spirit kind of has to.

What I find most shocking about this discussion is that people outside of Canada have heard of CBC and Jian Ghomeshi. I had no idea how much of an audience he had. Tonight is election night in Toronto, and as we say goodbye to the Rob Ford scandal, there is a new Toronto scandal to gossip about.
In terms of the story, I still have no idea what to believe. It's all he said, she said right now. But I'm sure CBC has an army of lawyers that they consulted before deciding that they had legal grounds to fire him, so I'm sure there is more to the story that will come out soon.
Platypus - "Q " is (was?) distributed in the US by Public Radio International - and heard on many public radio stations across the country. So, uh, you voting for Rob Ford's brother?

Um is that supposed to funny or sarcastic?

HorseTears - I know that now, but I only learned that it was in syndication when this story broke. Now that the show is going to continue with "guest hosts," I wonder if it will continue to be distributed...
I'm sure you're joking, but I would never ever vote for a Ford. Doug Ford is a close second in the polls though his opponent has already been declared the winner. Rob ford just won his city council seat. Torontonians are crazy.
Rob ran in his old riding where he is considered practically a saint. But what the hell, when his chemo fails they'll do a by election and probably parachute Dougy into there. ( remember Doughy still hoping for provincial politics)
update.
3 points. That was the margin between Ford & Tory. I think this is actually the feeling of dodging a bullet.

I have an old school CBC logo t-shirt and really liked hearing a lot of Q's musical guests performing in studio. Gomeshi knew a lot aboot music and had punk roots like mine.
