BTW how did that journalist who told this guy just happen to come across the congressman and another man in a shower? Was it in the Congressional gym? There aren't many options to bear witness to that image.

I think it was the shower of the journalist. The journalist's roommate was the one allegedly showering with Schock, so that's how he walked in on them. It's written weirdly, though, so at first glance it sounds like Schock is showering with his own roommate.

Which is absolute bull****. He wants other "journalists" to go out on the line and possibly commit libel but he hide behind hearsay.

I understand the angst for hypocrites but I know gay people who are against gay marriage and I know many gay people who want to live in the closet. His job is to report facts, not speculation.

This is not a question of outing. This is a question of a politician's hypocrisy.

And you are no longer correct in using the word "libel." As of May 2012, US courts no longer consider an "accusation" of homosexuality a matter of libel or slander.

Thanks for that PJ. That libel story is fascinating and I was not aware it had changed!

I'm speaking in particular about the report. Instead of "musing" on a blog, why not write a report. Here are the facts: . To me it just makes the situation worse.

My issue here is why gays closeted or otherwise can't be FOR DOMA/Don't Ask Don't Tell etc? I'm not, but I know gays that are. As hypocritical as that is to me, it is their thinking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this congressman was doing what he was elected to do, right?

To me it's just really unsettling. What if he kills himself over this? Coming out is different for everyone.

Wouldn't the only hypocrisy here be if he actually had gotten gay married or joined the military?

So many of us have done things in our lives that are counter to our sexuality. We've hurt people. Sometimes in the name of belief, other times for survival, or even confusion.

Itay comes off as some whiny scored ex-lover. Did Aaron dump him or something?

Gays can. And they're entitled to their personal opinions. But if they're politicians, and they get the opportunity to vote on those issues, it's a legitimate news story.
