CNN & MSNBC: Clinton open to being Obama's VP

Both news sites are reporting that Clinton has told NY lawmakers that she is open to being Obama's VP.

I would have to say it would be very selfish for either Obama or Clinton to not make this happen. Obama will certainly extend it to her.

It was predictable to me at least. Surely, he'll go into "lemme think about mode for a few days". Poll results must be accounted for.

Lots of juicy details in this AP article including:

The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.
"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November.

and:

Obama effectively secured the magic number Tuesday, based on a tally of pledged delegates, superdelegates who have declared their preference, and another 15 superdelegates who have confirmed their intentions to The Associated Press.
It also included delegates Obama was guaranteed as long as he gained 30 percent of the vote in South Dakota and Montana later in the day.

Anyone else having Wonder Twins flashbacks?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Why do I feel like she's all dressed up in her prom dress... waiting for an invitation to the dance?

re: CNN & MSNBC: Clinton open to being Obama's VP

It kind of boxes him into a corner and puts him in an awkward position if he wasn't leaning in her direction. It's just going to piss off her supporters and polarize the party that much more if he doesn't ask her. Of course, there's always the possibility that they already have everything all worked out between them.

Wasn't it in the movie BETRAYED, with Debra Winger and Tom Berringer, that the goal of a particular group was to actually get the Vice nomination - knowing all along they were going to have the pres nominee assassinated?

I know no one would joke about a thing like that, I'm just curious if that was the movie . . .

re: CNN & MSNBC: Clinton open to being Obama's VP

Are you perhaps thinking of the Manchurian Candidate where the presidential nominee is to be assassinated at the convention and the VP candidate-- well, I'll let Angela Lansbury tell you the plan:

"I shall force someone to take the body away from him and Johnny will really hit those microphones and those cameras with blood all over him, fighting off anyone who tries to help him, defending America even if it means his own death, rallying a nation of television viewers to hysteria, to sweep us up into the White House with powers that will make martial law seem like anarchy!"

re: CNN & MSNBC: Clinton open to being Obama's VP

can we not continue a conversation having anything to do with assassination or with prospective VP candidates plotting in Lady M fashion to have that done?

Please?

In other news, its down to 11 delegates. He will cross the line tonite.

I dunno. I kinda liked Joe's Angela Lansbury impression. His accent was dead-on.

I agree with Luscious, if she states she wants it and he goes with someone else...it won't be pretty. We shall see.

This chess move and the forcing of the hand makes me dislike Clinton even more.

i agree, no more jokes of assassination... its not a nice thing to think about and an insult to senator clinton who clearly didnt intend her comments to come off THAT way... beating a dead horse.
