Posted: 9/4/12 at 2:01amDid anyone watch this last night? I remember reading the book and seeing the movie years ago. I always found the plot interesting. This TV version is very creepy and the cast is great, especially Geena Davis and Ellen Burstyn. It concludes tonight at 9P on A&E.

Posted: 9/4/12 at 4:21amThere was a thread not long ago on the movie. I intended to give it a chance, but completely forgot (but being A&E I'm sure both parts will be repeated this week)...

Posted: 9/4/12 at 6:52amDon't bother. I loved the original movie, but this A&E version is a bloated and predictable version of something that should be taut and scary. They give away the "secret" so early that you never feel the urgency of the medical student's suspicions. A much too intrusive musical underscoring. And - more than anything - too many VERY long commercial breaks. I had been looking forward to this all weekend, and I gave up after 45 minutes. I tivo'd it, and I may give it another chance. Or maybe not.

Posted: 9/5/12 at 5:11pmI've been watching it online. Saw 2 episodes so far. Very good, I'd say. I never paid much attention to Lauren Ambrose before, but she's doing a great job with a great role. the only one I think is a little miscast is Richard Dreyfuss.

WOMAN! You have been missing out. She's really quite marvelous. From her brilliant portrayal of Claire of Six Feet Under to her dizzy and delicious Chicklet in Psycho Beach Party, she's one of my faves!

^ Yeah, what was I thinking? Now I'm a big fan. Geena Davis is also very good in her role. Now I have to decide whether to watch episode 3 now or wait. I don't think I can wait!
btw, wonkit, if you watch it on line, the commercial breaks are about 30 seconds long.

She;'s one of my faves as well, ever since SFU (and Psycho Beach). She also was brilliant as the pariah PA in the last season of Torchwood.
It was shown as two, two hour movies on TV (I did manage to dvr it)--is it divided into four online?

Posted: 9/5/12 at 9:35pmI watched the second part last night. They obviously saved the good stuff for the final two hours. Still think some of the additions (like the psycho with the trees) were distracting rather than helpful. I guess I would give this one a "C" - "D" for the first part, "B" for the second. And I ordered the dvd of the movie, to make sure I am remembering it correctly -
