Moony, they're both too old (87) and too far gone for assisted living. It would have to be a nursing home, and both my sister and brother-in-law are against that.
Shamey: THANKS!

Not that you don't already know this, D2, but that's a really selfish attitude. An environment of dedicated care is what's necessary in this situation. All they're doing is caving to their own sense of guilt and fear of their own mortality. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the ones who are living with the consequences are your parents.
I'm really sorry - it's a horrible experience from every angle. Stay strong.

I think you are in the NY area - my sister lives in NJ, and focuses on elder care. If you PM me the specifics, I can email her and ask her if she has any recommendations - she knows her stuff, and last time I did this, she had a few recommendations in the NY area relatively quickly. Also include their religious preference, if they have one, if you are interested, because some of the homes are affiliated with church or temple organizations.
And, to echo DG - the consequences of not putting them in a facility that provides proper care and treatment means that they will not be cared for, unless your siblings choose to take on that role themselves.
Let me know if you want me to inquire.
EDIT - I just re-read the thread and saw they were in Florida - she may have contacts there so I would be glad to see...

And is there still a corner room available? (I like cross ventilation)

Moony, don't laugh. There is a movement going on called Eden, or something like that, where a group of like-minded individuals all live together in their "dotage" watching out for one another. Not a bad idea. We should start a BWW/Adults Home.

Just a thought - Shamey and Tink will be the Senior Senior Citizens when the Mainboarders start shuffling into the home. I'd almost want to be around to watch that!
