What is the Upfront, you ask?
Answer:
Upfront - a term indicating that an advertiser has purchased advertising for the coming broadcast year in an early buying season, typically for the benefit of lower rates and CPM guarantees.
It means we work like idiots around the clock negotiating the best deals with the networks. And a big part of the negotiation is waiting, waiting, waiting until they get back to us with 'answers' to our 'offers'... So we wait. Which gives me a few moments to say hello to you fine people. As the night stretches out before me...

I can only think that it would be appropriate to have champagne on hand to celebrate deal closings.
The trick is leaving it alone until the deal closes . . .
Sorry you have to work so late. On a Friday, no less.
I have a bottle under my desk!
'Tis what we do, DG! Game on.

I remember that you said you were headed into your 'busy season'. How soon before you can breathe relatively easy?
mid-July.
It's a crazy game.

Happy Weekend to adults. Off to see Avenue Q after a little paper work at the office.
Quiet weekend in adult land ... must be busy in the material world.
We saw CRY-BABY tonight. Maybe it was because I went in with my expectations in the sub-basement, but I really, really enjoyed it. I could nit-pick it to death, but why bother? It was fun, it was funny, the choreography was beyond incredible, and we were both entertained. What more do you need for a Saturday night?
Sorry to barge in like this, but I am languishing on the rack of love.
I'm off all day tomorrow, and my gentleman friend and I have no plans to hang out. I texted him to see if he wanted to do anything, but I haven't heard back. (Granted, he's working right now, but I feel like wallowing in a little self-indulgent despair.)
Does anyone have any music recommendations for self-indulgent lurve-related wallowing? The chaRdonnay and I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
(D2 - Glad you had a good time at Cry-Baby!)
Can I kiss you with tongue?
OY! That show annoyed me. Glad you had fun, though!! Finally getting to see August on June 13.
I lugged an air conditioner upstairs tonight. Why can't they come all put together? Those itty, bitty screws are a PITA!! Took the old one out of the window and lugged it out to the back porch. The new one is sitting on my floor in front of the window. I'll deal with getting it in the window tomorrow when it's daylight and I can see what the hell I'm doing. I'm tired.

We're seeing AUGUST next Saturday night, Girly. And I'm in awe - you can install an air conditioner? I can't.
WW - whenever I'm in a bad mood like that, I generally watch a "guilty-pleasure" movie (like TMM) or a "wallow" movie (something that is generally 2 1/2 - 3 hours, something that I can "wallow" in, like ALL ABOUT EVE or A PASSAGE TO INDIA or DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, etc...)
ETA: Every time I go to the Main Board (against my better judgement but I just can't help myself sometimes) I really want to post (especially in the endless Patti threads):
Lordy, look at all the freaks!
Deet, what's to install? I just throw it in the window and hope for the best. I read the directions for proper installation and had no clue what they were going on about. Brain near about exploded.
I looked at August tix for next Friday, but didn't care for the selection. I have a party during the day on Saturday, and figured I wouldn't want to schlep into the city after that. Too bad, though.
Oh, and if anyone's wondering, the tongue line in my earlier post is a song from Cry-Baby. I wasn't getting fresh with Deet or WW.

I guess I should consider myself lucky - My situation is not so dire that I have 2 1/2 - 3 hours worth of wallowing in me. I wanted song recommendations because I don't think I have it in me to wallow for more than 4 minutes at a time. (I get to feeling pitiful and poormouthing sometimes, but overall life is GOOD!!!!!!!!)
I have to parcel my emo-ness into increments.
ahhhh central AC wooo hooo
