Moony - we are covering our bases, hoping it doesn't come to that.
I have only seen one episode of Revenge and Once Upon a Time this season. I need to catch up! (though not sure when, exactly)
Last night I was afraid I was catching the bug, turns out it was just sushi that didn't agree with me.
I have been fighting the bug for a few days. So far it is a draw. I am hoping to gain some ground - basically, I feel like crap, but not much in the way of symptoms.

Hubby's been fighting the same bug off and on for three days now. I'm keeping my distance.
Yeah, between the stories I have heard online, and friends who have gotten sick, it is a bad one.
Vitamin C and good health vibes to all.
We've both been sick for days. It seems to come in congested, feverish, achy waves. We caught it from my MIL on NYE. Bah.
I am going to daydream that I am having brunch with you gorgeous people, then we all break apart to see whichever show tickles our fancy and then meet back at Deet's for a splash in the tropical section (despite having given up the spirits) and good conversation. I need a day like that. I miss you guys.
Amber's Daydream = LIKE!!!
I've haven't gotten the achey/fevery/fluey thing, but I'm still congested with a hacking cough. Enough already!
Deet, I had the same thing around Christmas. It held its grip for nearly two weeks. I did run a fairly high temp But, it was the coughing that was the truly awful bit... and the congestion... and the feeling of death warmed up... and on vacation, too.
Feel better very soon, dear Deet and Amber.
We all need a vacation so we can get healthy!
Good morning to all.
Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm on the mend from the stomach-bug-from-hell. Holy moly!
Now it's time to get back to my 14 different full-time jobs. (I am SO ready to cross some of these enormously time-consuming responsibilities off my list!)
Happy Thursday!
Mom's got the flu and I'm very worried. We shall see. I woke up with a sore throat and no voice again. I'm really hoping it's just like this now and will get better after my cup of tea and oatmeal. I need to get a humidifier for my bedroom.

Holy moly is right - so much illness! I just read an article about the norovirus that sweeping Europe. Scary stuff!
Busy day here (as opposed to....?). The Winter Dance is tomorrow night so I'm doing all the prep work today. We have a faculty/staff retreat day tomorrow so I'll be tied up in workshops all day (including one that I'm leading). Just need to make it to the weekend...
My home town seems to be RAVAGED by the flu. Boston has declared a state of emergency. It's really bad this year. My mom is coming in May and I have already given her a list of vaccinations to get. Who knows if they will even help.

TB is on the rise, too.
To all those who are sick; get well soon!! It's definitely going around my office, but so far I've been spared (fingers crossed).
Quarantine yourself, Dottie!
Good gracious, everyone try to take it easy. Healthy wishes for all who are not feeling well. It's really worrisome this year.
Morning Adults - still holding off the ebola off to a truce. Based upon how nasty this year's flu is, I consider that a victory.
I need to go see Silver Linings Playbook. And Lincoln.
And, maybe a few others.
Get well/stay well/be well to all of the Adults.
Morning. Had dentist this morning, so 3/4 of my mouth is numb right now. Hopefully not too much pain when it wears off.
Did all you sickies get a flu shot this year? I'm just curious. I know you can still get the flu even with having the shot, just not as badly. So I'm told.

The last time I got a flu shot I got the worst flu of my life.
So no.
Really. Huh. I've gotten a flu shot for the last probably 10 years or thereabouts, and I've gotten a winter sniffle here and there, but not the flu. Knock on wood that keeps up.

D2 - I go the shot once, never again! However, friends are knocked out by the bug!

Here's the thing about the flu shot: it's effectiveness is based on an educated guess. The CDC makes up batches of flu vaccine based on which flu strains are prevelant in the Eastern Hemisphere (they tend to get it there first). Sometimes they make the right call, other years a different strain hits the US first and prevails throughout the winter months. This year's guess - the lovely Sidney 2012 - was right on the money, so if you got a flu shot this year, you should be immune.
On the other hand, two other viruses - flu-like, but not the flu itself - are also running amok. One is an URI, marked by a nasty, lingering cough (see Deet as a prime specimen) and the other is a strain of norovirus (se Addy as a prime specimen). This particular norovirus is running wild throughout Europe right now.
The more you know...

Thanks! I might try the shot this year based on the accuracy.
From an article I just read - the shot this year protects you from 3 of the strains out there. There is a 4th one going on out there that has hit a small amount of people that the shot does not protect, but for the 3 big ones right now, you should be good.
But it takes up to 2 weeks for your body to acquire all the antibodies needed so if you get infected then you can still get a full blown flu.
And, of course, it also depends on the status of your immune system.
And ditto to the other viruses going on. I've been reading so much on this epidemic I feel like I can easily work at the CDC right now.
And, no, I did not get the shot this year. But I am going this weekend to Walgreens.....
Okay, there is only one thing to do. Y'all should pack up your bugs and come down here. Summer days with no flu. I made some chicken broth yesterday. In fact, there are quite a few quarts of it and I'm not sure how I'm going to fit it all in my freezer. So, you would be helping me out. You may have to watch the Aussie Open with me on Monday. But, the rest of your rest and recuperation is fully negotiable. Iced tea, anyone? Slips down a hot, sore throat easily.
A while back Moony and Somms were discussing the movie, Big Night. It sounded good, so I put it in my Blockbuster Queue. Now, I don't remember the discussion and it's winging its way to me. It was around the time Stanley Tucci's cookbook came out. Should probably be here tomorrow. What was the discussion?
