BB - I worked with the Chicago Medieval Players decades ago and we would perform anywhere -most notable - Playboy Mansion and Rockefeller Chapel at University of Chicago.
Right now - four of the Brd family are working within blocks and Mrs Brd and I will have lunch at the girl's place of employment!
Other then a delayed train - not so Crappy Monday indeed!

Oh my!
Happy Monday. Love the clear, cool air last night and today.
Busy, but really fulfilling, weekend. And a dash of fun yesterday afternoon. I haven't had 'fun' in forever, so it was really enjoyable.
Love hearing about the rehearsals, Boobs.
Love hearing about the family, brd.
Love hearing about the fun wedding weekend you had, YWIW (but glad you're back in the comfort of your own home)
Love hearing about the opportunities coming your way, Tink.
Love thinking that Moony is wrapping up another academic year.
Love seeing Sommsy stop by.
And love seeing Max in Deets avatar.
Happy Monday to all.

'Morning, all!
Had dinner last night with two long-time friends. We get together 4 or 5 times a year to catch up ion life, kids, aging parents, etc. Last night one of the friends told us that she and her husband had split. In fact, they've been divorced for over a year! She never said anything to us over the years. Talk about being a private person! My other friend was shocked, but I wasn't surprised by the split, just the silence throughout the past 3 years. I spent most of the night ruminating about the nature of love, marriage and growing older. I need to do my ruminating during daylight hours.

Posted: 6/3/14 at 9:16amThat is strange and must have been shocking. Two of the couples that I have had hundreds of cocktails, dinners,, etc. with over the years are now divorced. I have tried this year to be more attentive to my marriage and also the family unit. These transitions are tough on relationships. C18 said to the other C20 and the two boyfriends, "I should just talk to the wall." as the other three were staring at the screens of their devices. I am trying to go "screenless" while with my wife and family - random thoughts!

Posted: 6/3/14 at 9:21amMoony,that's weird. A friend told me that him and his wife got divorced too. She has a drinking and prescription drug problem. He tried to help her, but she refuses to admit she has a problem. After too many calls that she was in a car accident (luckily no one else was hurt. Mainly she wound up in a ditch). he gave her the option of either seeking professional help or a divorce. Well I guess we know what she chose. The only ones that know they're divorced are his mother and me. He doesn't want me to tell our mutual friends because he's afraid they'd act weird towards her when she's around. He still takes her on vacations when he goes with our friends. I'm trying to get him to understand that he's still being an enabler by doing this. He needs her to make it on her own without any help from him. He'll eventually learn. I just need to be a friend and listen right now.

Wise thoughts, Brd!
Cathy and Jim were real opposites who made everyone say "I guess it's true - opposites attract!" Once the kids grew up and were gone, I think their opposite-ness made them drift apart and they had no common ground. So, I guess the saying should be "Opposites attract, but doesn't endure."

The twists and turns of life. It's interesting to see the priorities in people's lives as they grow, age and move forward on the journey. And how relationships evolve.
Brd, I am ALL about the screenless interaction when spending time with family and friends! Nothing is more important than the in-person time we have together. And it's to be cherished, not ignored. BIG issue for me.
Healthy relationships do take commitment and work and finding ways to be really, truly present is imperative.
Little sleep last night, due to a very late night in the office. 'tis the season. I'm looking forward to August.

Tony weekend performances! Exciting.
I don't know what we're seeing on Saturday yet. We usually find out when we get all the tickets on Friday.
I'll be happy with any show - but wish I could see BRIDGES again. I'm going to be SO, SO sad if Kelli doesn't win.

Addy - so will I - I saw all of the performances, save 1 (which was not open), and my favorite was Kelli, followed by Idina and Jessie, then Sutton. I think because Idina's show got such mixed reviews (and maybe the fact that the role is so contemporary) she is an after thought this year. I liked Jessie, but Kelli blew me away.
I wish there was a video of Bridges - it really is something that PBS could have aired.

I was surprised to see she didn't win the Drama Desk. I hope Tony voters were able to see her stunning performance in BRIDGES.
It's among the best performances by an Actress in a Musical that I've ever seen. In this year, or any other. Breathtaking.

Addy - I agree completely. I was so happy that I got into town in time to see it (and to drag Deet and his better half with me).
Off to fight traffic. Finished my early call and now time to go to work proper.

Boobs,
If you want to move the show to Michigan, you can do whatever you want in my church/home. It's 150 years old and the upstairs still looks like a functioning church with a pipe organ, choir loft, bell tower, and stained glass windows.
I have been dealing with some family issues and haven't been around much. My father is going senile, my step mother has turned into a total beeyatch, my sister moved back from Hawaii with her son, after her breast cancer and was living with them to get back on her feet. My dad couldn't take a three year old in the house and literally kicked them out last week. My other sister called me yesterday for some help with something and when I called back, the police were there, her husband had walked out and her special needs child was being hauled off by the cops.
This is going to make for a great Fathers Day.....
