I like the view.
It must be a really slow news day if CNN felt it newsworthy enough to send me alerts earlier that Mark McGwire admits to using steroids and another one to let me know that this is Simon's last season on AI.

A slow news day isn't necessarily a bad thing these days!
I, however, just booked flights to fly in 2 weeks for interviews.

Mark McGwire is a disgrace to the game of baseball, and as an avid Cubs fan - I HATE him and hope that his male part has shrunk to the size of a cork!

I just sent this email out:
As some of you know, our beautiful Christy developed a tumor rather suddenly on her spine, which we had removed last Monday - which a biopsy showed was malignant. Although she was able to come home the next day, she really didn't enter a recovery from the procedure. While I was out of town in Arizona, [the TinMan] ended up having to re-hospitalize her over the weekend, as she had ceased to eat and was becoming listless.
I returned last night, and went to see her this morning, and she responded well to my interaction. Because of that, I brought her home, and she actually did finally eat something - and we had a lovely day with just the three of us, sharing lots of love and affection.
But, as evening approached, she began an obvious decline, finally leading to having almost no motor function at all. So, we ended up making the decision that ultimately has to be made, and let her go. We took her to the hospital that so lovingly helped us say goodbye to Teddy, and she is no longer in need or in pain.
She was a part of what helped [the TinMan] transition from [his late partner's] death, and became the welcoming heart that helped me make a home here in California. We are so happy to have had this last day with her, and will always remember her easy and loving presence.

Thanks, again. I'll be happy when the tears stop - which will be easier when I don't realize I'm looking for her.
Brother Q called to offer condolensces and anything we might need. He's such a good boy.
Q, I'm sending a large, long distance hug. I'm so sorry.
Q, sending you and the TinMan much love and hugs. This is the hardest part of owning a pet, or loving anything - having to say goodbye.
But, it sounds like you both did everything you could for her, and this was the right thing to do. She was lucky to have you, and you her.
Much love.

Thanks again for the good thoughts.
I'm allowing the pain to pass through, and consciously invoking the beautiful memories we will always have.
It still sucks.
And I can't believe I can actually say that like it's a bad thing.
Q, my heart breaks for you and the TinMan's loss. Where's that darn rainbow poem, about all the dogs no longer in pain? Christy is no longer in pain, but you still have the memories.
I just finished a dogsitting stint, and after reading this, I want to run back and cuddle with her.
Oh, and Deet. My interview just happens to be in your neck of the woods.
Oh good. Then you can come to see PHANTOM KILLER while you're here.
Mornin'

First and foremost, Q, I am so sorry for your loss. Dogs give us so much and ask so little in return. They're wonderful companions and I know you and Tinman are really hurting today. Big hugs for both of you!

OMG, you guys - Buddy from Carlo's Bakery called me last night! Mary must have given him my cell number! He kept talking about making me an apple cake, which is strange because what he OWES me is a coffee mug, but whatev. He called! And he sounds just like......Patti Lupone.
whatever you were smoking last night, moony, please share! :p

No, Tink - it's TRUE! I have everyone here at the office listening to the vm on my phone!
Moony, when you order your daughter's wedding cake, don't get red velvet or carrot. My cousin shared a little nip of the cupcakes I got her, and they were nothing to write home about.
But we all know his pastries are sublime!

Oh, that's disappointing, Girly. Red velvet is her favorite. I'm perfectly fine with a cannoli cake.
Speaking of the wedding.....what does "hung like a fruit bat" mean? It doesn't sound promising....
mmmm, cannolis!
So I just yelled at several different people at the doctors office, but they are seeing me tonight to find out why I am not healed yet. I finally get to talk to a nurse with my chart and at first she is like "oh an ankle sprain...2 weeks and you are not walking yet? That's not normal." so then she goes to actually look at my chart and I guess my xrays and comes back "well, now that isnt a typical ankle sprain so that makes sense. Yes, we suggest you come in tonight for another exam".
AARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm better. thanks.
