My mother knows shorthand.
Yep, it is beyond me.
I can't comprehend it. It's amazing.
I used to know it. I can still do my first name.
I've gone through old notebooks/papers and whatnot, and I've come across things I wrote in shorthand so that no one who found them knew what I wrote. And now I can't frackin' read them!!

Girly, you should have utilized that talent!
Years ago when I was in a law firm, I did some conservatorships, and my secretary used shorthand. That seems like a lifetime ago.
Now, I deal with conservatorships on the business side, and have to review the paperwork to make sure specific transactions are permitted. It is a big old freaking pain in the behind.
I barely understood that paragraph, so...*nods*
I could explain, but I have a feeling no one really gives a rats ass about that!
If it meant I could get a conservatorship on my Dad, I'd ask for an explanation, but I think it's moot.
If it is contested, it takes time and will cost some money. Since he will contest, it will require medical evaluations, him having his own legal counsel, and even then, there is no guaranty that you would prevail.
Not worth it. I *hopefully* will be accepted to a grad school and get out of this crazy!
Ethel Merman was a stenographer before she hit it big, and she never employed a secretary (she said) because of her typing and shorthand skills.

I love how all topics can eventually lead back to Broadway.
Deet's good that way!

Mrs. Brd can barely type and I am her secretary. The problems is that she rarely harasses me!
At the office catching up!
You're at the office on a Saturday? Oy!
Deet's awesome that way. No doubt about it.
Who wants ice cream? I'm making some today.
I brought my office home with me. They won't know there is cat hair in my contract notes!
I've been working much of the weekend, as well. From home. The joy of a laptop computer!
My mother knows shorthand. I love hearing the stories of her days going to Katherine Gibbs in NY. They had to wear hats and white gloves. This, after having graduated from college. To be an executive assistant was coveted work. She tried to teach me shorthand once, but I could never wrap my brain around it. Between that and the Court Stenographer, I find it all fascinating...
By this time on a Sunday I am ready for another day off. Between the extra work which always requires weekend time, the usual weekend chores and errands and trying to have some semblance of a social life (this weekend was quiet on that front, which was ok with me), it seems that the weekend just disappears. And then, suddenly, Monday morning looms...
Ah well. There are still many hours of Sunday still to be enjoyed.
But first, I have to switch my laundry from the washer to the dryer. A woman's work is never done...
Happy Sunday afternoon to all.
Afternoon all! Just got back from work, and my second of two Purim events. 2 more to go!
Wait a minute - if you've been to the 2nd of two events, how do you have two more?
Are you drunk again, Shira?
I have a court stenographer machine up in the closet in the spare room. I went to school for it, but never finished.

BWG, that is so funny! A few of my friends are court reporters, so I always have an ally in the room for my deps. My secretary takes shorthand, I can literally walk by her desk and give instructions.
Busy weekend here. I was at the office both days. We have a crazy family week and next weekend is hilarious, booked solid.
