I'll admit, I've been very remiss the past couple days in watching/listening to the news. Have things been really chaotic at the airports since the London incidents?

Due to a possible bacterial infection from a tick bite that didn't heal properly (that is not correcting itself in a timely manner,) I might not be able to go up to Seattle next week as planned.

I am NOT happy about this, for a number of reasons (not the least of which is causing DD to have possibly kept an open schedule for no reason.)

But, as I've explained to him, I simply can't ignore what's going on (in spite of how much I'd like to!)

Tink - perhaps you should PM me with what your brother has had to go through.

I went to the emergency room up in Mendocino (where this happened) and had a doctor remove it. She said she got it all but one leg, and gave a tetnus shot just in case. For a couple of weeks, it seemed to be healing just fine (she had to dig a bit to get it out.) Then, it started to not be so fine, and really started to explode when we were up in San Francisco.

I went to an Urgent Care when we got back, and they thought it was Scabies, and gave a prescription accordingly. When nothing was happening but things getting worse, I went to a regular doctor, who then prescribed different meds (after saying it couldn't possibly be Scabies!) and we are awaiting some test results as I type this.

I don't know, Girly. The doctor who treated me in Mendocino said that it would be VERY unlikely (saying maybe a 2% chance) that this could lead to Lyme Disease.

And if it's not Lyme, then whatever it IS is putting me through living hell! I look like a leprosy victim - it's NOT pretty. And I itch constantly, which is causing other problems when I scratch It's pretty gruesome.

The TinMan is NOT HAPPY about this, I can tell you that!

Tink - I would have been FINE if I had stayed in my yard - it's traipsing about in unknown woods that caused the problem.

And I refuse to say whether I was naked or not!

SOMMS - but it did clear up - eventually? This is REALLY not enjoyable

I thought I saw you drive by on Saturday, Tink. The third time was kinda flattering.

In all seriousness (I know .. ME?) it was on my ankle DG and it was red, itchy, and painful for about a month with the meds. After that it still took about three months to completely disappear. Only I could find a tick on a beach with a thousand nude people on it.
