"AND he's f**ked Anne Heche."
Who hasn't?
Oh wait - I thought he said "he's been f**ked BY Anne Heche."
Never mind.

oh, FYI, Jerby, I respect your opinion that you are "mostly" a top and bisexual.
Emphasis, however, on opinion.

Well, since everything can return to Bea Arthur, we definitely know which of the two of THEM would be doing the topping.

i watched the full interview with swoopes on advocate newsmagazine on LOGO last night and she definitely states that, for her, being gay is a choice and that she was not born gay.
when the interviewer spoke of how "unpopular" her statement was going to be in the gay community and the potential backlash, sheryl replied that she expected to "get heat from both sides."

Posted: 12/13/05 at 11:05amI wish I could see the interview. I'm very confused by the complete 180 degree difference in her presented views.

it was odd. she says that falling in love with her female coach was totally unexpected and just kind of happened. she said they had a really good friendship that became more and "she just happens to also be a woman."
the interviewer asked if she considered herself gay and sheryl said "yes."
then she made the statement about it being her choice.

Which is completely opposite of what is presented in her written interviews. I wonder what she really thinks.
Ultimately, I tend to agree with Robbie that it shouldn't become a barrier between her and other gay people. I understand that it is a dangerous quote for those against gay rights to get ahold of, but ultimately, it IS only her truth - and that makes it hers to live and express.
It still confuses me, though.

i was thinking about what robbie said the other day and i wondered how far was too far to support someone's "truth."
if a famous gay person came out and said they regretted being gay and that gays should not have the right to marry or tax benefits or a say in their partners treatment for a disease, etc. should we still support their truth?

#145re: Can We Put People Back in the Closet?
Posted: 12/13/05 at 11:29amI think we should 'respect' their truth, but I don't necessarily feel I have to support it. I acknowledge that for some people, getting involved in a gay relationship is a choice. That's all fine and dandy. It's just sad the she's the one that decided to come out, and not someone who identifies themselves as gay and doesn't have to explain it.

We had that, DD - her name is Martina
And I like the idea of 'respect', just not necessarily support. I'm a little uncomfortable with the thought of just not allowing someone the experience of their own existence.

Yeah... but Martina was in the 70's. Others have come out after they retired, I just wish other currently playing athletes (or at least one) would have the guts to come out as well.

All I can say is again: I believe that we are all born homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual, and what we realize we are, admit we are, act on what we are, understand what we are, etc. may or may not be in accordance.
Thus, I believe that Cheryl Swoopes was born either bisexual or homosexual, but how she came to discover, accept, identify with, etc her attraction for women is her own story.
