Moony, you know I LOVE the show and I adore this production. The only difference from D.C. I saw in the main characters was Bernadette's dress. The French actress was 1000 times better than Regine, but for me the real new surprise was Jayne Houdyshell. Her "Broadway Baby" is exceptional! So much better than Linda Lavin. It's a totally different take on the character...imagine Shirley Booth as Hazel. Jayne made me smile a lot...I wanted to run on stage and hug her. The show has a different feel, but I can't put my finger on it. I LOVE this Broadway production.
My youngest sister got married at a clothing optional spa in NoCal - with only solar power and a very strong sulfur smell. I got my own room, but there were community bathrooms and showers outside, except of course in the bridal suite - which had its own shower and bathroom. Other guests stayed in bunks kind of like summer camp.
There was a Wiccan in her wedding party.
And plenty of herb.
When the wedding was over, I went to friends in SF and took the longest shower.
She is the highest maintenance hippie I have ever met.
And she is coming for a visit next month.
Happy Monday.
Holy crap, that's a story! Did anybody go "optional"?
Not during the day.
At night in the spa/hot springs, I think a few. She rented out the place and it had a max of 66 people.
We cooked group meals, and at least I don't recall any vocal vegans/vegetarians. We had to bring in our own potable water, because the place is off the grid (and all of the water smelled like sulfur). It is actually quite beautiful if that is what you want/like, and I think they may have actually had very limited non-solar power - but nothing was well lit or particularly clean feeling.
I hid in my room with a flashlight and read late at night, or just tried to find something useful to drink.
There were also plenty of guitars, banjos and ukes.
I swear, it was the perfect set-up for a horror movie. Somewhere there is a crazy person with an ax just waiting for this moment.
Switched at birth was I.

I would have totally skipped that wedding. I skipped my sister's second wedding - a muy expensive 5 day shindig in Aspen CO over the New Year's weekend - and paid the price with family discontent. That price I paid was a bargain in comparison with the price tag for the wedding I thought was a huge mistake anyway. There's one in every family....
Speaking of weddings...today would have been my 24th anniversary. I called and wished her a happy anniversary. I told her that we get a long so well that it feels like we don't even live together anymore. She called me her little cannoli and I called her my little Sfogliatella, we laughed and hung up. We have a perfect marriage.

Wasn't she with you and the cups yesterday?

Oh, and September 26 is a very good date in history. It's Mr. Moony's birthday.
Boobs! awww!
Chris and my wedding date (that we smartly cancelled 8 months before) would've been 6 years ago yesterday.
Happy used-to-be anniversary! HBD, Mr. Moony!!
And it's Joop's 2nd birthday!! Happy birthday to my BUG!!
Flea Market was okay. Glad the forecasted possible rain didn't show up. I bought the DVD of the final ABC Soap Opera shindig they had at Town Hall the beginning of the year. I have a few years of them. One of these days, I'll actually sit down and watch them!!
Also won tickets to see Venus In Fur, which I had heard nothing of, but a few of my friends were grrr'ing at me. Also won tickets to Perfect Crime, which will most likely see the garbage can.
Hung out for a bit with Boobs and clan.
Room was PERFECT!! Priscilla was fab! And wound up seeing Follies yesterday, too, with a couple of my friends getting last minute tickets.

Happy Birthday Mr. Moony!!!! Tell him his birthday gift from me is that I am remaining gay.
Yes, Mother Cup was with us yesterday. She brought the treats to eat and drink, so that's why we take her. I even bought her a magnet. She collects them from the broadway shows she sees. The "Follies" one is nice...they didn't have it in D.C.
*Tinky hugs*
So, both of Boobs "wives" were in the same theater with his BFF, at the same time? There's a musical in there somewhere.

I had an odd flash of a We-Ho version of Chinatown.
LOL!!
I did forget to check to see if Follies has a lapel pin for my collection. Unfortunately, a lot of shows don't get them. Sometimes they have a button, which I really don't like, but if it's my only choice, I will. I'll have to check back at some point. Boobs, did you notice? I'll have to ask Cheryl if she noticed. She bought a magnet, too.
My license expires this week, which means I have to head to the DMV. And it looks like one I used to go to in East Brunswick is no longer there. I have to go see where else I can go. Bleh.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Moony!
Happy kinda Anniversary to Boobs!
And happy Monday to the rest of us.
Took Mom to see Kelli O'Hara at Caramoor on Saturday evening.
The evening was so lovely (muggy, but no rain!) with a gorgeous sunset. Kelli was as wonderful as she always is. Sang a delicious collection of songs and looked stunning. It was nice to have an evening like that to enjoy with Mom.
The rest of the weekend we started to go through drawers and closets. Not so easy. In fact, quite difficult.
This week will be busy as I prepare for client meetings next week. And also have some appointments with the lawyer and accountant. My other full-time job. But, a labor of love...
Glad to hear the weekend festivities in the city were fun!
Enjoy

Hi Addy!
Going through the personal belongings is very hard. My mom couldn't do it so my brother and i went through Dad's closet, drawers, etc together. So many memories stirred by each article of clothing. We each took one or two things to remember him by.
((HUGS))
I'll do the same... it's very hard.
Thanks for the hugs
I still have my grandfather's robe. Even though it's ripped I can't get rid of it. I remember when he passed away, I was around 10 yrs. old, I asked my grandmother if I could have it. It's a wine colored cotton robe. When I would miss him I would hug the robe (of course when no one knew) and I felt he was with me. It's still hanging in my closet.

I have my grandfather's robe, too. He's still who I want to be when I grow up.
I'm keeping my father's robe.
We haven't gotten rid of anything yet, but have started to sort through things. I'm probably going to keep more things than I *should* at first. I'll pack them in a box and put them in storage. At some point, when I'm ready, I'll donate them. But, for now, I have to let go slowly.
And some things will stay with me always.
I took one of my Dad's tennis hats, a black piple, and his badge as Mayor, and put it in a little display on my fireplace mantle. They were all things that bring back memories of him and make me smile whenever I see them. You almost feel guilty not cherishing everything, but I found those three items were just what I needed.
Meanwhile, after 7 years, my mom has finally stopped trying to give me stuff she did not have the heart to throw away, but did not want to keep any more. The perils of being the daughter in town.
BTW - Kelli O'Hara was in Blue Bloods on CBS on Friday night.
I think I'll be the one to want to keep stuff that I don't have the heart to throw away... I tend to be overly sentimental that way. I'm just going to let myself do this in stages.
I was just reading your post about the wedding! Oh my!! I'm sure it was a beautiful setting, but... quite a story!
Kelli O'Hara is singing with us again this year. In April.

I kept my dad's WWII dog tags, his beret (bought in Paris when he traveled with his unit through France following the D-Day invasion)and purple LSU sweatshirt that still smells like him.
