I still have an entire attic, bedroom and dining room at my mom's full of stuff.... my advice to anyone is do it sooner rather than later.
I kept one of my Dad's Pearl Harbor Survivor caps, and when we cleaned out their storage locker, half of the Pan Am memorobilia he'd kept. It was a little hard watching when the Pan Am logo flashed across the T.V. screen last night. I remember him talking about the Clipper Class planes, and wish I still had the Pan Am insignia pin I'd been given.
And I kept one of my Mom's shifts that I remember her wearing on hot, humid days when I was very little.
It gets easier, Addy, it does. And the good memories remain.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Moony!

Sadly, the only thing I had from my father was bad memories - and despite my best efforts, I still haven't been able to let all of them go. I have to work at not being envious of people with good things to remember.
Morning peeps!
Q, I totally understand that. The only fond memories I have of my father was him bringing us to an Amusement park called Palisades Park. I can still smell the french fries with malt vinegar...they sold them in ice cone cups. Yup, that about all I got.
I have very mixed memories of my father too, Q. There were moments where he was active and engaged with us, and as many more where he was distant, cold and dis-interested. I prefer to hold on to the good memories, and write about the bad ones.
FIELD TRIP with my kids this morning! Yeah!
Good morning, all. Another foggy morning. Ditto on the Dad.

I love field trips! Where are you taking them? Our students went to Mt. Vernon (half of them) and the Newseum (the other half) yesterday. I held down the fort. Someone had to stay behind and eat the pizza.
'Morning, all!
I could use a 2 week field trip

To....um....Thailand?
Moony, I'm leaning more towards the Amalfi coast

Me too! I was watching the Rick Steve's PBS show last night - "Rick Steve's Guide to the Amalfi Coast". I kept saying, "I've been there! I've eaten there! I remember seeing tha!" I need to return.
I always wanted to experience it with someone special...I believe it's time
That's all the notice you give me? I'll need a white suit, fedora and sandals; impossible to find in the off season.
Poddie, don't worry. You'll have plenty of notice. Remember I have to pay the bathroom off first

Morning.
My dad sent me a package yesterday filled with all old stuff of mine. Books I wrote in the third grade, report cards, other projects, yearbooks, birth announcements, etc. What a blast from the past. Funniest parts were the comments on teh report card about me getting A's in everything but penmanship & religion.
Tinky....I got your A's in those 2.

I like Q's little bow on his head in that picture!

His dress is very pretty, too! Q has always looked good in prints.

Of course I look good - they don't call me Fetchin' Gretchen for nothing!
I used to have wonderful 'classic' penmanship.
My handwriting now tends to be a little more sloppy.
I think I'll make it a point to restore the fine art of old-fashioned penmanship in my life.
Greetings on a Tuesday afternoon.
I was back at rehearsal last night. Felt good to focus on music for a few hours. We have a wonderful season planned. (I just posted a shameless plug about our Subscription special on Facebook)
