Not a good test taker either. I keep thinking about all of the "what ifs" that really don't apply in most people worlds, but could if you pushed.
Just recently, I got annoyed by internal training on diversity that described "Freedom" as a value. I am like what, a value? Isn't freedom a state - you either are free or are not. People yearn to be free, but I never thought of it as a core value, more an objective.
Sister YWIW comes over for a few days. Pray for us all.

Sending you prayers and strength, YWIW!
Holy migraine, batman.
So much for my day off, and having a list of things to do. After a slow start to the morning, I spent the rest of the day curled up in the dark.
I don't get them often (a few years ago I had a terrible bout with them, but they've been in control recently), but when I do, they're brutal. I think it's because it was the first day I 'stopped' since... well, since the beginning of the year, really. But certainly since the beginning of August. And *BAM!* it packed a punch.
Am in the office today but taking it easy. Still feel like if I move my head too quickly the world gets fuzzy.
*sigh*
Good thing I don't have to take a test and fill in little circles! (I join those of you who are glad those days are over!)

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:06amSo sorry about the head banger, Addy. After doing absolutely nothing yesterday morning, I decided to do some painting in the basement in the afternoon. While I can't smell the fumes, I can feel them. I was curled up in a ball in a dark place by about 4 in the afternoon. Feel better!

Yeah, it seems when you are running, running, running, the adrenaline takes over - and when you have a moment to decompress, all of the gunk comes out to play.
Feel better.

That's always been my pattern - AFTER a period of stress, when I can stop and drop is when I get nailed...
And, Somms, I'm with you on the paint fumes. I am super-sensitive to scents and fumes, and paint is a killer. Hope you're feeling better.
So, I work a block from the park where Occupy Wall Street is camping out. Between the crowds of tourists who come to lower Manhattan to see the 9/11 Memorial (and other historical sites of interest) and the ever-growing crowd of Occupants... it's quite the trick to get to work in the morning, and to get around once I'm down here! I'll be curious to see how many people stick around when the weather starts to turn.

One of the things I donated was a whole bunch of garbage bags and moist wipes. While I commend the commitment, I imagine a few are getting a bit ripe. I am pretty sensitive to noise and smells, so it is best that I support them from afar...
We have a theory that my mom, if she ever just sat down for about an hour and did nothing, would literally start to fall apart, limb by limb.

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:29amSo sorry to hear that, Addy! I guess the silver lining would be that the migraine hit ion a "day off" not in the middle of a client presentation, but still....that bites! Hubby had a migraine on Sunday and felt all washed out yesterday. Be gentle with yourself!

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:33amI start my compliance leave next week. I have lots planned to get down in and around the house. I'm hoping for at least 2 days before I coem back to work to relax and do nothing...although that is usually not in my vocabulary. The puppies usually make sure of it.

What is this "compliance leave" you speak of?
I am going to try to take a couple of days off when the new furniture arrives.
Off to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in early November. Fun fun fun!

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:43amYWIW, I technically work for a bank and so we need to take 2 consecutive weeks (10 business days) off. They believe if we are doing anything illegal it will surface in these 2 weeks. You're not allowed to come into the office or check your work email during this time either. That is fine wih me although I hate the 2,000 emails I have to sort through when I get back.

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:46amOk, that is one of the weirdest things I've ever heard. Is that in addition to your annual leave time?

Wow, a forced sabbatical. Nice for those honest with no worries. But, do they really think anything illegal would be in your work email? I mean, work email is generally routinely monitored - and you would think that your personal email would be more useful source of info.
I have never even heard of that. I would just hate playing catch-up after the fact.

Posted: 10/11/11 at 10:59amMoony, that is part of our annual leave. If you only have 2 weeks vacation then you're exempt from this compliance requirement. Most people have 3 weeks though and so they're forced to abide by this law.

So is your credit card info, Boobs.
I've heard.
On a short break between class and department meetings (first dep't mtg of the day, btw; there's another one tonight at 5:00). My class continues to inspire me -- some really smart kids in this group.
Addy, I get migraines too -- they're brutal. J2 upped my dosage of Imitrex (sp) after his brother and sister-in-law visited a couple of weeks ago. And yes, I do believe it was (wait for it)... related.
Sorry.

Posted: 10/11/11 at 12:21pmTonight I have a wake to attend. They're always sad, but this friend was the same age as me. We hung out in H.S. She went in for back surgery in June and then they discovered she had bone cancer. She leaves behind 2 children. Boy (turned 13 the day she passed) and 8 yr old. daughter. It still hasn't hit me that's she's gone. I can still hear her hearty laugh.
