Posted: 12/20/07 at 4:32pmI have a phone interview on Wednesday, I guess I'll tell them then. I wasn't to keen that the first step was an email questionnaire. One of the questions was "when can you start" and since it was the beginning of the process, I was quite vague and said I would like to give 3-weeks notice. They then asked for my portfolio ... and now the phone interview.

That's great, DD. So in the phone interview, if they ask you when you can start you give them a date that is comfortably after your return. And don't be apologetic about it - just present it as fact.
PS: That's how I handled it when I took this job. J2 and I had a trip to Europe planned and there was no way I was going to miss that, so I just gave them a date, and they accepted it without question.

Yea...only nice thing about it is no one is on the road at that time. Although I think the security guard in my building hates me being I wake him up to let me through the turnstile.
