Sounds like everyone is having wonderful gathering weekends ...
Sunny and beautiful in the Great PacNW. I do have a matinee today, which will probably be slow due to the weather.
Sending everyone hugs and tackles ...

No worries DG - I just figured you were disappointed that we could not all get together last night.
And, my cold is still being fought, valiantly.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 3:51pmwell I made it through yesterday somehow and today was a pool tournament that they held in Chris's memory. It went well but I dunno. The fact that absolutely no one involved me in the planning and pretty much ignored my presence leaves me just a bit too bitter than I'd like, but as with everything, I did it for him. I lost, won, and then lost. I actually had a chance in the last match but Tink got in her own way as usual.

I think I'm losing my mind. When I walked into the kitchen to leave this morning, the coffee carafe was filled with fresly brewed coffee. I swear when I hit the button, nothing was happening!!

Posted: 10/12/08 at 9:02pmI can't believe my shows are all open and running. I won't know what to do with myself with the downtime for the next month and a half.

Hey Peeps!
I'm home and exhausted. Btw, my mom now thinks she's cooler than me. You really can't encourage her like that.

I'm grading this evening, and drowning in a sea of Cs. And dreading the hordes of unhappy students tomorrow morning.

Very good. Everyone was there.
How was it for you, Deet? Is it just me or did they make some changes when it transferred?
#4591The Adults are here to stay!
Posted: 10/12/08 at 10:22pmEveryone was there last night, too. I noticed a few changes, the most noticeable being the end. I'm not sure if it works having Louise walk off laughing like that. At least, it doesn't work for me.

I totally agree. There were a few things that I thought were better before, but overall it was still great.
Mom, wasn't crazy about the first act with all of the "bad kid routines", but she said that Act 2 made up for it.

"I'm not sure if it works having Louise walk off laughing like that."
That's how it was done in the 1989 revival.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 10:29pmI'm still not convinced that Patti LuPone is the greatest Rose ever, but I will say her "Rose's Turn" is among the most electrifying performances in musical theatre history if I may be allowed to hyperbolate. (Is that even a word? Well, it is now.)

I just want the hot stage hand from City Center last summer...who cares about all this Rose-Louise BS?

Posted: 10/12/08 at 10:31pmI don't remember her laughing AT Rose, Rath, but as you're the expert on that production I will bow to your greater knowledge.

I haven't seen this production since Encores. I am only going on what you said, but I guess I have to take it back.
My, it's good to remember why I left.

Hey Rath!
Well, was it a sincere laugh cause she thought it was funny or a bitter "I can't believe you!" type of laugh? Because on Saturday, it was very bitter.
#4599The Adults are here to stay!
Posted: 10/12/08 at 10:35pmThe way it ends now, Louise turns her back on Rose and walks offstage laughing, while Rose stands there alone. The ROSE sign lowers again, Rose reaches up to it, a few of the lights blow out and the curtain comes down.
