I'm returning to Assisi next summer, DG. I'll bring you back momento. I'd go visit St. Anthony in Padua, too, but I would just end up just losing my souvenir from there.....

DG - I went to St. Francis and St. Clare High Schools. We saw that movie every year - LOVE IT!!!

DD- Hi!
In Assisi there is a musuem of sorts in Claire's church with one of Francis' tunics next to one of Claire's dresses. The woman was huge and must have towered over him. He was very tiny and slight. Claire's body is on display there as well.


And Boobs....beautiful and very important.

I would love to visit Assisi sometime. Didn't the church get damaged during an earthquake a couple of years ago?

Clare's church had minor damage, but it was Francis' church that took a bad hit. When I was there in 2003 it was still under reconstruction. Some of the ancient frescos on the crumbling walls will be hard to recover.

Anyway, Claire's church was far more interesting and held both her and Francis as well as many of their artifacts. The town itself has been preserved and looks very much like it did in the 1100's.
