They did have the general program, just not the ones you could buy for a keepsake. Depending on the price, I might have passed anyways, but who knows.
I also saw the Monet exhibit on Saturday and went to the Asian Art Museum on Sunday - it was a busy couple of days!
I loved the Asian Art Museum.
I haven't been to SF in a while. I lived there VERY briefly. And LOVED it.
I should plan a trip back. With a side trip to the Wine country!

Could I make a home here, NYadgal? This is the only thread I see coming back again and again, and the others I join in on are too slow.
Everyone is welcome!
and, YWIW, I LOVE the Asian Art Museum.
I remember going to a Tea Ceremony there once. It was beautiful.

Never been to an Asian art museum for tea, but I have had tea in Asia, if that counts. It was supposed to cure my sinus problems, so the chinese guy said. What a jip...
My experience on this thread is that all are welcome.
And, I have seen the Museum in Taipei, and been to the Mainland. I just love Asian art, especially the Jade and the scrolls.
I ended up spending money at both museum stores and acting quite like a tourist.
I love SF - I go every once in a while and went to school not too far away. Some of my best friends from law school live right across from Golden Gate park. I love to visit with them.
Wine country - yum!

I decided to invest in a small piece of Asian art, a resin dragon, which set me back about $20 in Beijing. I'm not sure how many Yuan that was. Anyway, it would just have to get broken in my bag on the plane, wouldn't it? Along with the Chinese paints and calligraphy set I bought... ughh.
I hope I get it. God, I hope I get it!
That's great news, YWIW!
And jade.
I love jade.

I adore jade, Cookie!
I have two jade birds that belonged to my grandparents, which they bought on a trip to China. They're beautiful. If I had a mantle over a fireplace that would be the perfect place to display them!
Travel.
I love bringing home something home from my travels which is special and unique to the place I visited and which will remind me of the trip!
I should plan another trip to SF... it's been too long!

There was lots of stuff on the radio over here today about the trouble in Heathrow, because now that it's starting to calm down, people's laptops and valuables have started going missind from their cases on flights between here and Britain. The laptop cases come through, but without the laptops.
I have this amazing print I bought when in Beijing, but right now have no place to hang it - it is a silk scroll of concubines playing polo. It is very simple with bold colors and strokes - not common for what was available when in the store. I also brought back some nice vases from the Clossimae (sp) factory and an etched vase.
I had a great time in China!
I also love some of the detailed wood etchings.
Just beautiful.
I am so jealous that you all will get to see ACL again and again and again.

By the way, 'Vinnie', I haven't heard that one yet YWIW, that's a good one.
I am not sure what happened there - call it post ACL stress syndrome. I was so giddy I am still recovering.
I will go back and fix!

Sorry, but what's ACL? I can't think of anything now, though as soon as you say it I'll punch myself...
VM! Nice to see you around these parts. We don't bite... hard... unless you ask us to.
Crazy busy day today. Taking a 10 minute break (which is almost over) before I dive back into it.
Hi adults! How's everybody doin' this fine evening? I just got home from work and I'm EXHAUSTED! I'm hungry but I'm too tired to fix anything.
Anybody got any good leftovers from the goodies today?
Goodevening adults - Hi Mamie - Only been home from work about an hour myself! Have had an extremely busy last few days. Had a baby shower for my daughter and Amelia Ann yesterday and had a lot of things to do to get ready for the shower. Also had relatives come from out of town which was fun but added things to do since they were staying at my house. Today we had to do the tour around town and then they left to go back to Ohio and I had to go to work. Now I can sort of relax for a couple days. May go to a movie tomorrow with a friend. I want to see Little Miss Sunshine.
No leftovers here.
I may have some baked Cheetoes if that will help - but I have not seen any wonderful cakes or pies recently.
Just still giddy from seeing ACL in SF.
(my giddiness will fade soon, I swear).
you! I'm so glad to hear you had such a great time. Be giddy all you want! It's contagious! I can't wait to see it in December. I hope I can get tickets... need to do that soon.
I made a peanut butter sandwich on whole grain toast. It was yummy but the pb melted on the hot toast and ran down my arm. I think I'm too tired to clean it off..........
Anybody have a nice dog they can lend me?
I'll send over my friends' Great Dane Lola - she was a sweetie in SF - and she eats anything.
As does Stoli, my big grey beast of a cat.
Stoli eats peanut butter? My little Tootsy turned her nose up to it.
Tell Lola she has the job - as long as she doesn't make me laugh. NO TICKLING!
Then cover your nose - she likes to like to like the nose as well. She is all of 120 pounds, and an adorable Great Dane.
And Stoli eats just about everything - given the chance . . . including Martini Olives.
