Skim milk they have in France. But no one (except me) buys it.

I have Skim milk andn normal milk in my fridge right here, both are in cartons, both are pasteurised, and bith are FRESH!
But the unrefridgerated cartons off the shelves in France are sterilized, not pasteurized. And they do NOT taste the same no matter what my friend says.
I came across this poem after many years of forgetting how much I loved it and need to remind myself of these things...so I decided to share with my peeps here.
IF
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Boobs, that's a keeper!
*prints it out and puts it in her journal*
Boobs, it's a lovely poem, but what does it have to do with Half-and-Half?
Miss P, there's just something not right about that 'boxed' milk...
I would always order a café au lait in France.
I just copied this from Wikipedia:
Café au lait, literally "coffee with milk", is a French coffee drink prepared by mixing coffee and scalded (not steamed) milk. It is similar to Italian latte, but made with drip- or more popularly French press pot coffee instead of espresso and with scalded instead of steamed milk in 1:1 ratio.
It is a staple of the Café du Monde, the legendary coffee shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, where the coffee used for the beverage is combined with roasted chicory root.
In some American coffeehouses, a café au lait is simply a cappuccino or latte with regular brewed coffee substituted for espresso. This is also often the case with the German variation of the drink, Milchkaffee ("milk coffee"). In addition, the term "misto" is often used to refer to a café au lait.
Rita's Water Ice sells a Misto
Morning hugs for Addy and all my other lovely friends here this morning.
Miss P....see it says "if you can keep your head while others around you lose theirs"..I'm sure people in France have lost their heads over half & half.
Yes, I always ordered a café au lait in restaurants, but they still didn't "approve." It would have made them nuts if I'd ordered a "café creme"! (Whenever I ordered a café au lait, that's when the waiter would ask me if I was English!)
At home though, I had to make my own Half-and-Half and heat it up in the microwave.

OK, that's really a stretch there, Boobs.
Yes, Boobs, I see. You are so right. I'm sure they're still talking about me and my bizarre coffee-drinking habits. But "C'est la vie."
They also didn't approve of my son's playing with dolls. It's still an extremely sexist culture, I'm sorry to report.
C'Mon Moony..you should know me by now.
Miss P...I used to play with dolls when I was young too..look how I turned out..uh-oh.
I still play with dolls.
I had 144 Barbie dolls by the time I was 11...most of them still in their boxes.
(...and I expected shock when I came out?)
You turned out great, Boobs! And so did you, Sommsy! If my son grows up to be like either of you, I'll be happy.

I had almost as many but most were missing their heads. What did that predict about me?
You aspired to be a brain surgeon?
Or a cosmetologist with Tourette's

You're too sweet Miss P. Come to think of it..SOMMS and me were playing with some dolls a couple of weekends ago...I do not jest either..right SOMMSY?
My father was a fashion designer. EVERYBODY in my house played with Barbies!
Nope, Boobs speaketh the truth. He keeps them under his bed.
Maybe you could design clothes for Barbie like Robert on Project Runway...
(Hey Boobs! Long time!)
Heh, I used to love playing with Barbie dolls... but I also loved playing cowboys and indians and soldiers. I was well rounded I guess!
144 Barbies. If that's what it takes to have my little boy to grow up to be like Jaily, I'd better get shopping.
HEY MM !!!! Nice to see you finally made it here. When are you guys coming over for a visit?
