my alarm does wake me up gradually - also at 7 a.m. i wake up to a CD playing and i usually am awakened by the sound of the CD spinning as it gears up to start playing music softly and then a bit louder (it's the soundtrack to brokeback mountain doncha know).

all this of course, after my dog does a test wake up (which came this morning around 2:30 a.m.) by pawing the baby gate to the bedroom. this is followed by my partner's alarm going off, then going off again, then going off a third time.

this is followed by a few minutes of relative silence (with jim yelling at the dog to be quiet so as not to wake me up, not knowing that i don't hear the dog - only his yelling at the dog). next comes the bedroom light, the bouncing on the bed as he puts on his socks.

right about then, MY alarm goes off to "wake me up."
