No, really!!! It's like watching more attractive, more professional, more coordinated "ordinary people" doing what we do when we hear ABBA. I don't think a lot of people "get" that! I'm not saying the movie is "perfect." I'm just saying I had a perfectly fabulous time and I appreciate the director's approach in presenting ABBA's music as it should be!
Pierce was ideal for that role. The men nave never been well-developed in MAMMA MIA--and neither has the relationship between Sam and Donna, so Sam has to be the kind of guy you look at and go, "Of course I'd want to be with him! Who wouldn't? He's charming and adorable and silly!" (Of course, if it were up to me, I'd take Colin Firth over anybody in any movie any time. God I love that man!)
I have to go get ready now. I must look glamorous for D2!!!!
Miss P, you could wear any one of those atrocious outfits that were posted a few pages back and you'd still be drop-dead gorgeous.
I wouldn't let you in my apartment wearing them, but you'd still be d.d.g!
Some idiot reviewer here in Seattle just did not get the movie and totally panned it. The funny thing is that I was reading it I was just thinking what a pompous @$$ he was being. Not every movie has to be this Academy Award Deep Thinking Masterpiece. There is also plenty of room for having a fantastic time. Everyone who has seen it has said it's super fun. I might override the bf tonight, who knows ... though I do really want to see Wall-E.
Miss P, I do get it, and on that level, I agree.
It it just some people were laughing when Pierce was singing, so it totally broke the mood of the film.
I still think Christine Baranski stole all of the scenes she was in! What a hoot!
Hola, people. Hope everyone's having a good weekend...
All of this movie talk... I definitely want to see the three movies that have been mentioned lately - Wall-E, The Dark Knight, and Mamma Mia. I think I might give Wall-E a try tomorrow.

What I REALLY don't get are the people asking why Meryl did it in the first place! All I know is I'd rather be her than any of them when they look back on their lives.
Cheffy - this might be the perfect time to see WALL-E, as it seems there might be 10 of us in the country NOT going to see the other two this weekend
Meryl can do whatever the hell she wants to do, IMO.
And I was thinking this would be a good weekend for Wall-E. First my friend in NC recommended it, then Shira couldn't stop talking about how cute he was (she saw it this week), so I'm thinking I'll indulge myself in an expensive movie.
just a warning...there will be debauchery.

"And now I'm out with the boy!"
Then what are you doing posting here?!?
I just want to assure all you West Coasters and anyone nearby who couldn't be with us tonight that we had a perfectly dreadful time. The show was just awful, and the company was the pits. And what is up with Cheyenne? My god, he's really let himself go. He looked like sh!t up there on that stage.
So you can stop being jealous now that you know you didn't miss anything.

Jealousy is not in my nature.
I'm actually hoping you all had a FABULOUS time, and spread lots of nasty rumors.
The nasty rumor I spread was about you. I told everyone, "Jealousy is in DG's nature!"

Oh, honey, there's MUCH nastier than that
Spreading nasty rumors isn't in my nature!!!

Hehe.
Can I assume that everyone had a good time? I certainly HOPE so, after all the anticipation.
DG, I was being ironic!!!

MissP - do you HONESTLY think I don't know that?!?
I was seriously asking if everyone had a good time.
I'm off to bed now - the plants need tending in the AM, and it gets hot quickly.
Hope the rest of the visit is good.
I'm sorry. It's late. I'm tired...and I burned my tongue on the white chocolate soufflé. (I can never think straight when that happens!)
I can't speak for everyone, but I had a wonderful time! D2 and J2 are the most charming hosts. I got to see so many lovely people I haven't seen in ages. The show was delightful. Cheyenne Jackson was outstanding. Sean Hayes throughly surprised and enchanted me. The restaurant was "okay," but the BWW group was magnificent, so who cares about the restaurant?
I didn't want to gloat, but since you asked....
(Did miss you though.)
Well, SOME dumbass must have bumped her hazard light button getting out of the car at the train station this morning. She's now STILL waiting for AAA to jump the battery. *sigh*
OMG, JG2! I'm so sorry.
I just wanted to pop in and say "yes, I got home alive". Papa ALMOST came with me, but I convinced him to stay with his wife instead :-P
It's been a simply spectacular evening.
I am glad you all had a lovely evening. It was a nice day over here as well, though it would have been wonderful to be a part of the DY group!
